Do you need special tools ?

I have found a source for a left and right side catalytic converter for our 99 320. I do a lot of my own service work, but, is it possible to change this system without special tools? I am worried about the sway bars and suspension items.

I have use of a lift and all the air tools and welding equipment I need. Is there any tech info available on this anywhere ?

Aftermarket parts will cost be $1100 cdn. The dealer here want $ 2300 cdn. for the complete job. That is a big difference.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Do you need special tools ?

Allen,

Don't know about any special tools, but check with Bob Ellsworth
at the following address; he's got a business where he supplies all types of manuals. I didn't ask him about tech manuals, but he probably has a source. I thinking of ordering the "Haynes" type manual for the ML. I got it for all my other vehicles.

It's a pretty straightforward job. The torsion bar on the side which is being replaced needs to be removed though.

Are catalyic converters a problem with the ML?

It seems to be a very short time to replace those parts!
Isn't there an "extended" warranty on emission systems?

The guy is in Canada. I'm just wondering if the same warranty applies...
