ML steering Questions
HI All,
I have a 2000 ML430 that has a couple of quirks that I wanted to ask about. 53k miles 1. Occassionally when turning into a parking spot the power steering will fail when straightening out. Dealer told me this was normal. 2. Occassionally when turning at low speed there will be a sort of short high pitched shriek and a bit of vibration felt in the steering wheel. Dealer never has tracked this down or heard it. Is item 1 normal in your experiance and does anyone have an idea regarding number 2? I had my steering clamp replaced last year when the darn thing blew out driving through town. Would sure have been a nicer situation had they fixed it earlier. Thanks Cy

None of the above..
My ML doesn't have the problems you stated, I recommend you seek another dealership, when I had a problem with my rear seat belts, I went to one Dealership, not only they refused to fix it under warranty they told me to pay for it... then I went to another dealership 25 mins away and they asked me to pick it up the next day! Let us know what happens!

First thing I'd do is make sure the serpentine belt and tensioner are in good condition. Then, as tabo said, check with another dealer, if you're fortunate enough to have more than one dealer within an hour's drive. This does not sound normal, and you would not tolerate this from a Honda let alone a Mercedes.
