Unimog sings the Waste Cooking Oil Blues

Yep, I dun done it now... The fat lady (my Mog) has sung. Well she has sung the Nut Oil Blues. So far its a pretty sweet sound too. :p Anotherwords my Dieselized 404 Unimog is now offically fueled by a blend of Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) from Arby's friers.

I can throw a valve under the hood to switch things back to more of an OEM fuel system arrangement for when I use just diesel fuel.

This arrangement is just phaze one. More to come, including a full install of an on board WVO filtering system. Right now my onboard filtration system is a temporary arrangement using a 30gal drum, pump and centrafuge style fuel filter ratchet stramped into the interior of my Mog's camper. Hope the strap holds. Will be one hell of a mess if it doesn't !

Howdy CG,
What is your collection process?¿ Do you go around to the different Arbys and put it in your tank?¿

Arby's like many other places that use a liquid oil, gets the oil in 35lb platisc jugs wrapped in cardboard. Think that is about 4.5 gal full. Well anyway.... the Arby's across the road just pumps it out of the fryer back into the jug for me. I go and pick it up.

Since this connection started with Arby's I am thinking on trying to get them to sponsor some future trips and I'll plan a route in advance and contact Arby's along the way to start doing the same thing for me and I'll pick it up on route.

Yes, I will eventually add to my onboard filtratrion system the ability to suck from the collection tank that resturants keep in back of their place. Im thinking of using my PTO w/a pump attached so not to compramise my filtering pump.

Howdy CG,
What happens when someone else wants it?¿ Auction time?¿ Goods to the highest bidder?¿
