The "usual suspect" is the brake light switch-you probably will need to take it someplace where they can read out the fault codes.

It's under the dash by the brake pedal arm, simple mechanical switch.
It has 2 sets of contacts, so it is possible to have the problem with the indicators on the dash, and yet still have brake lights that work.
It would still be better to have the fault codes read rather than assuming it has to be this switch. More than likely it is, but no guarantee.

Brake Light Switch

Most likely it is the brake light switch at the brake pedal. Had mine go just last week.

Wish I purchased the extended warranty with this vehicle since I am getting to know my Mercedes service writer all too well. Now that it is going out of warranty the service bills will probably convince me to buy something else next time.
