Where to start, when taking apart Skyview roof?

I also have a Skyview roof, and a driver-side arm located on the 3rd to last panel snapped. I manually assisted the closing process by pushing the panels closed, while someone was holding the close button inside the car. Now I want to take it apart, and remove/replace. To ensure I am doing it correctly, where on the inside do I start?

Parts are no longer available for this roof. The BEST thing to do is get it closed and leave it that way. I know it sucks to have an option that doesn't work but it beats getting rained on and ruining the electronics in your gear shifter and who knows what else.

I know this is an old post. but my skyview roof is approx. 8 inches from closing completely. the dealer is my last resort....but just wondering is there anyone in the NJ/NY area that can close this for me and then pull the fuse. I have a 1999 ML 430. I took it to Udo's in Tenafly, but they were not able to close it and ask that I leave it for a few days.

I made an appt with Wolfgang and Bell stated to bring it in...however, both stated on the phone that they were not certain they can close it.

just wanted to make sure this was done by someone with experience.....other than the Dealerships: Prestige (Paramus) and Diamler Busch (Englewood) in the area.

Thanks in advance.

I took my crank, put it in the center between the driver and passenger, began to crank, then alternated to the exterior roof (meaning: I pushed the roof shut while cranking).

after going to two authorized repair shops I went to the dealer.

Unfortunately, no luck there as well. I went to the dealer because they told me they have not worked on a Lamella roof in years, but that they have has success in the past. so much for past experience. Cost $399.

They offered the following options:

1. According to their search, there is 1 roof left in the country. If I want to replace it can be done for $7700, but they added they will do what they can to shave off a little with this cost. I need to act quick since there is only one left in the country.

2. go to a custom/ after market spot and see if a glass can be put in its place.

3. Go to a body shop and see if a piece of metal can be put in its place.

No luck at the Mercedes Dealer. I was told they had experience in the past and were successful, so I opted to take my car to them. so much for past experience. Cost $399 and my roof is still open.

Hey ...I am back...hehehehe

Took the Mercedes dealer to small claims court. Received a default judgement (they didn't show up in court) for the return of my funds....$426 + court cost.

Looking to take my ML to the authorized Webasto dealer to see if they can close. It's cold and snowy here in the North East, so I can't drive it at all. They have a huge warehouse where I can leave it.
