Air Bag Seat Sensor

The sensor that deactivates the front passenger air bag has gone defective. The repair bill.... $550 parts and labor.

Unless you own a Benz child car seat, the sensor option of worthless anyway.

Does anyone know if this can simply be deactivated? I would prefer that the air bag simply stays activated at all times, or have a switch that it could be deactivated at will?

Thanks
