Question Bedding Pads with New Rotors?

Just installed new front rotors and pads.

Is it necessary or advisable to bed the pads with new rotors on an ML 320? I do this on another high performance car I own but I don't know about the ML.

I always do, they don't stop till they are seated, but that takes very little time to do. Generally 5 stops from 60 does it. I don't brake hard either, just normally. Of course most of the brake jobs I do get rotors also. Brakes tend to squeal if the rotors are not perfectly flat. Turning them removes more mass and is only temporary. It will only get worse from there.

Ron,
What brand pads did you use, and are you satisfied with them?

Thumbs up

For brake pads and rotors I use dealer purchased products. I have a 1999 ML 320. They are not that much more expensive than aftermarket, and sometimes less, and regardless or what some say about aftermarket they are not my first choice for these items. The front pads are made by Jurid and I recall seeing the rotors were made in Canada although I don’t recall by whom. Cost of the front pads is $113. Part #163-420-03-20; cost of the rotors is $150, part #163-421-02-12. I do put a little brake pad paste on the part of the piston that contacts the brake pad, part #A 001 989 10 51

Am I satisfied? Heck yes my first set of pads lasted 48K miles and the set I just took out lasted 42K miles (pads had 4mm of material left). The rotors that I removed which were the original had 23mm remaining which means they were right at the point where they needed to be replaced.

I just had my rotors and pads replaced on my 98 ml320. Initially everything was fine, but then I started getting a "moan" occasionally from the rear wheels at low speeds.
The tires were replaced about 5K ago.
Sorry to elbow in on the conversation but is it possible these did not "bed" properly?
Thanks.

Not likely. I kind of get the impression that bedding pads and rotors is not really that important on non high performance vehicles.
