Performance chips typically will take advantage of higher octane fuels. The performance gained is lost in the area of fuel consumption.

chips

I have replaced several chips in cars over the years, and have had good luck. One thing that occurs as a result of a switch will be a difference in the shift points as the new chip, or ECU changes not only airintake , but shift points as well, with the result of firmer shifts at higher RPMs.
