ML55 AMG Brake Pads

Notice brake pad indicator light blinking? ML55 has about 35k miles and is within factory warranty; however brake pads are a wear item and appears to be excluded? I have a mechanic who works on Mercedes...mostly older models and if special tool(s) required for this brake job he may not have. Is brake pad replacement on the ML55 a complicated process and does it require special tools? Depending on answer may opt to have mechanic do work vs. high cost dealer!!

ML55 AMG Brake Pads

Thanks for reply to my brake pad issue. Does it seem a little early that brake pads need replaced with less than 36k miles? If so, what am I doing wrong in the operation of this vehicle?

Maybe a little early, not to any extreme. Maybe some other ML55 owners can give opinions here, they'd know better than I. The brakes on the ML55 are different than the rest of the line.

Hey Gilly,

I'm looking for rotors and the source I'm talking to has one fitment for the ML430 rotors. Is there a chassis distinction on the rears? He also mentioned that the fitment was the same for the ML55 and ML430. Does this sound right to you?

Yes this is correct about the rotors and pads if you have a late build 2000-2001 ML430. I was told the same thing. They are the same specs. as the ML500 and ML55

Well that surprises me but I guess its good that I'm in the high A---- chassis range. Anyone know what thats all about? Fastlane parts lookup is chassis number sensitive, what gives?
