Didn't Darwin have 13 children or so - took his own advice re natural selection, perhaps - there're bound to be some still around.

I don't know where my first name came from (Alexander) I think my dad liked it.
My middle name, Duncan, is after my grandfather, and because my dad wanted to give me 2 names to chose from.
His mother who was part-spanish named him 'Carlos'. Bad enough growing up in working class Glasgow with a spanish name, but to add insult to injury our family name is Charles...

I was named after the Greek saint Stefanos; my name is the Italian version.

My middle name is Paolo, the Italian version of Paul.

My last name, Flori, is also Italian (duh) and is based on the Roman goddess Flora, the goddess of fruitation. But don't tell any guys that. I'll get ribbed for sure!!

My aunt is named Neleta. That's a combination of two other women in the family: Nel and Leta. Funny how names come up!

sorry for being way off topic... but what sorts of books has President Teddy Roosevelt written? I found a very old book written by him about farming, its however written in Polish. Are most of his books nature based?

There's family history in my name. My first name, Joseph, comes from my mother's paternal grandfather's first name, my middle name, Lawrence comes from my mom's maternal grandfather's first name. But, dad wanted to make a contribution of his own to my name, so Wilson was added as a second middle name, as the maiden name of my father's mom.

I got my first name, Kristy, I'm sure because my mom and dad thought that was a 'purty' name. It is also eternally misspelled, Ch instead of K, an i or an ie on the end instead of y, people assume it's short for Christine or Kristina, etc.

Middle name, Lynn, is I'm sure a bastardization of my dad's middle name and an earlier family name, Lindsay.

My maiden last name, which I use now and intend to never relinquish again, is Scottish. Apparently my ancestors arrived here between 1840 and 1860, although I rely on Google for this tidbit.

Speaking of family history, I just received from my dad a copy of a long document (almost a novelette) written by my grandmother about her and dad's history. She recently passed away, so it's pretty special to have something like this. I am going to start transcribing it tonight, I think.

I envy you -- that really is pretty special. It's good to hear that you're taking steps to assure its preservation. I have some special mementos from my father (recordings on vinyl and tape) which I've transferred over to CD for the same reason.

I'm named after both of my parents.

Long story short, being from a Sicilian family the first boy and the first girl is normally named after the father's parents. Well following tradition, my oldest sister, Vincenza, is named after my father's mother. My name should have been Andrea, after my father's father, but there was a disturbance in the force, (rarely happens in an Sicilian family), so my folks named me after them ... my mother's name is Norma, and my father's name is Anthony, hence my name is Norman Anthony.

That's my story ...
