MB Collector Went to Nursing Home

A couple days ago I FEDEX'd a cashier's check to a guy in Las Vegas for an '81 300D w/56,000 miles on it. The check has been received and he's going to put the car on a carrier as soon as they have a truck coming my way.

During the course of the transaction he asked if I'd be interested in an 85 300CE or CD...can't recall which. (My mechanic tells me the last of the CD/CE models was '82, so this could be an '82 instead of an '85.) It has heated bucket seats in the rear and some other gadgets on it. Car has 7,000 miles on it. Asking price is $24,500. Told him that I wasn't keen on putting that much into a vehicle to be used as a daily driver. He mentioned that his father-in-law is a Mercedes collector and, unfortunately, has just gone into a nursing home. Dad has several cars and they are starting to sell them off. In additon to the ones previously mentioned, he said they have some SL's and others. If folks are interested I'll find out some more and post the info here. These cars won't be cheap, but there may be some decent cars available for a price.

Further, I'll be selling the wife's '82 300TD when this one is received. Hers has 160,000 miles on it and is sound mechanically. Interior is in good condition. The body is sound except for a small rust problem in the right rear floorboard which will be fixed. It has a lot of miles left on it, but I don't need four cars. So one has got to go and this is the one...unless somebody wants the 300D, w/5-speed and 286,000 miles on it.
