need help with E36 power top

I was talking to someone who had some stereo work done to his 99 M3 cabrio (E36). The shop can't figure out what they did to disable the top. There's a flashing light on the power top switch so hopefully there's a specific fault code. He's digging in for a battle with the shop to pay for an independent to sort it out. It'll either be something all stereo shops do wrong or 20 hours of diagnosis

Thanks,
Sixto

They may have accidentally put it in manual mode. There is some type of mechanism under the rear seat that allows you to close the roof manually. There is also an interlock switch that prevents the boot from operating if the trunk lid is open. Make sure trunk lid is closed and car is level.
Sounds like something the dealer can fix pronto.
