One of the reporters wrote about it but that was after Novak had spilled the beans and the story was about the fact that Plame's identity had been leaked, at least I think that's what happened. I wasn't there...

Well I don't know why I'm getting so worked up over this. After all, when all the testimony is in, I'm certain that Scooter Libby or Karl Rove or whoever leaked the information to Novak will do at least as much time as Judith Miller is likely to get if she doesn't spill. It will all be a great example of how nobody, no matter how big or powerful, is above the law.
I'll be so happy about that, I'll probably go out for a celebratory flight on my pet pig. No matter how you spin this, it doesn't smell good. If I'm proved wrong, utterly wrong in my suspicions, I will bow and scrape and petition for penance and mercy.

Whomever did it will probably be revealed at trial. Even though Grand Jury testimony is supposed to be secret, once a jury is impaneled, principals rush to microphones trying to spin the story in their favor like mosquitoes to a lamp. Blood suckin' bastards.
I hope whomever did it gets serious jail time in a real prison, not a Martha Stewart fat camp. That is the only way to set an example for others in gov concerning their duties and responsibilities. I don't blame reporters anymore than I blamed them for printing, "the Pentagon Papers". The free press is supposed to be a natural enemy of government secrecy. Usually that works in the favor of liberty, but sometimes it does not. It's a risk well worth taking. Let the reporters/op/ed people go free. Bot |

Government secrecy is the natural enemy of democratic principles, so eliminating the former enhances the latter--this administration is a serial perpetrator of the former.
