Any Rocket Scientist here?

A good buddy of mine emailed a good nasa link to me and I'm marvleing at the high res photos.

But here is my question how does that big fuel tank not break loose from the shuttle while it is being held together by a few tubes and clamps. Do the shuttle and booster have the same lift so they zero out?
