I don't know if there are timing marks between the cam and cam bearing towers like in other MB engines. The Haynes manual says that at TDC you can fit a 4mm rod (drill bit) into/through a hole on the back side of each camshaft flange and the rod will sit flush on the valve cover surface of the head. Facing the engine from the front, the hole in the intake sprocket is at the 3 o'clock position and the hole in the exhaust sprocket is at the 9 o'clock position.

The image I have shows rods going in from the back side so the sprockets might not have holes but there should be holes in the cam flanges.

timming

Found the holes thanks but when you face the engine with chain undone the teeth on the right sprocket move without the cam about 5-10 degrees do i put the teeth clockwise or anti clockwise when the holes are lined up.

You're going to have to describe that more clearly because I don't follow your description of what's going on.

You might also want to post this in the tech help section.
