Does anyone here pick locks?

I'm getting tired of forking over $75 everytime a drywaller walks away with my keys. I'm purchasing a professional lock pick kit with a training video is it very hard?

Install a digital lock and change the combo after every serviceman is finished in your home.

Then buy one of those hollowed out rocks, place your combo inside, and place it in with the shrubs!

Depends on the lock. Some are easy, and some are damn near impossible. I used to pick toolbox locks for fun back in my shop days, and I still keep a broad selection of slim-jims for car lockouts.

and they just use the lockbox and walk away with the key.

I think how hard it is depends entirely on the lock. I fooled around with it when I was a kid. Cheap locks you can rake with a couple well bent paperclips. the more compex the lock, the more sophisticated tools you need (duh)

just be wary of overzelous cops, possession of burglary tools and all

I checked it out, my appraisal/property manager licenses will cover me, thanks for the heads up though.

There are just so many choices that I get frustrated, how can I pick one?

Did You Know There's a World Championship?

For a lock picker, the world is a different place. Take, for example, a typical suburban house, with a bicycle in the front yard and a five-pin Weiser bolting the front door - a basic pin-and-tumbler lock, employed by millions of home owners. When most people see that lock, they see security. But a lock picker sees a game. And maybe 15 seconds with a rake pick and a tension wrench. As for the bike Kryptonited to the railing out front? Please. Ten seconds, tops, with a Bic Round Stic ballpoint.

Howdy MM,
My working partner picks locks. Office doors and car doors. When his pick doesn't work on office doors then it's me and my demolition tool:-)
