Is it just me or does the news coverage seem to make it seem like the only hurricane victims are black and live only in New Orleans? I rarely even hear a mention of anything outside of New Orleans...where is the Gulfport coverage, in fact anything in Missisippi.

Where is th enews coverage on the Balance of that 90,000 square miles that were effected....many parts far worse than New Orleans was.

You mention 90,000 square miles. Do you fellows realize how large this is?

You would need a swath of destruction from the shoreline to 90 miles inland, for 1000 miles in length to equal 90,000 square miles.

No offense to you personally Bone, but the data is absorbed by the public, hook line and sinker, and it is off by a factor of 38X. I calculate that the maximum amount of destruction that would be possible is 2,350 square miles.

This is nothing new for the media. I remember when the Exxon Valdez spilled 11 million gallons of oil. The media reported it as 11 million barrells. No big deal. They were off by a factor of 42X.

See a pattern here?

I dont know when some of you are gonna get it, I have been repeating it over and over, the TV news and most of the other media outlets are NOT NEWS, they are entertainment.

Bonehead, who is by no means the average man, reported the erroneous fact several times on this forum without so much as a thought.

Well thats what THEY say... but I figue a 500 mile section of beachfront realestate got blasted hard and heavy, and honestly have no idea how far inland......Bridgeport MS got blasted far wors than New Orleans... The news showed a 250 mile radius from the center of the storm.

The Gulf Region is not my stomping ground but any idiot wo watched the satellite pictures knows New Orleans didn't get the brunt and they were by far not the only ones effected...

Coverage of other areas has been extremely spotty at best......

Is it becasue THOSE areas are predominately white...and the liberal pres wants to play the race card claiming its the blacks who were disporportionatly effected...and the only way that would work was to totally ignore everyone outside New Orleans?

Think about it....who is blaming Bush...who is claiming reponse was racialy based...and who is refusing to cover harder hit areas (white areas) to bolster those claims....knowing most of us in the USA wil only see what we are shown.

Think about it..too many coincidences....and too much Bush bashing for this to be a coincidence. Its been carefully orchastrated by the left to keep coverage limited to bolster false partisan claims against Bush.

The media is made of people who " want to make a difference"--hence they have an agenda. They are propagandists for their particular form of "bigger government is good". I wish they were viewed as mere entertainment.

If you drew a semi circle with New Orleans as center, you would only need one with a radius of 239 miles to get 90,000 square miles. And in reality the circle would need to be less since doing it this way has removed all the land mass south of New Orleans for the whole state. This circle would run just west of the Texas border and to Pensacola in the east and North of Jackson in Mississippi. They must be counting anything that got hit by rain..

Exactly. But, if you listen to them, they continually use the "90,000 square mile" figure when referring to the damage from the storm. It's complete and total BS. The amount of destruction is something close to 1/40 th of this value, and may even be less!
