motorhead alert!

if anybodys going to be up at 3 a.m. (est) speed channel is showing the 'small-block shootout'. very cool show featuring a 1970 t/a challenger v. 1970 boss 302 v. 1969 z/28 v. ???? javelin (not as 'up' on the amc products) in several performance categories. just for kicks they throw in a '69 z/28 original t/a competition car for comparison

I caught that yesterday, but unfortunately missed the Javelin track test. Too bad they didn't use an AMX, but I guess it wasn't made at the same time as the other ones. Pretty cool. I love those dudes on the show-the northern accents are hilarious.

i met this guy two years ago who was totally into the javelin/amx cars. really nice guy and all but i have to admit i felt all my muscle cars ('65 GTO, '67 GTO conv, '68 GTO, '69 Judge, '70 SS 396 chevelle, '73 formula 400) were 'superior' to any and all american motors offerings.

American Motors Offerings

When I was a teen, I worked for a guy that bought a new 1970 or '72 (CRS now ) Rambler Hornet hatchback. It had a 360 4bbl, police suspension and posi-trac, the first radial tires I'd ever seen and, after the Trans-Go kit was installed, that SOB would smoke practically anything and everything in sight either in a straight line or on the curves.

It was the ultimate sleeper.

I know where there is a 1970 AMX 4 speed with a 390 (maybe a 401) in it......been sitting in a garage since 1979........in the garage of the parents of a friend who died in an an accident in 1979...they could never bring themselves to sell it. Was the hottest baddest car in the area back then...still remember it vividly.
