You're kidding, I hope.

Murtha once visited a soldier who had lost both legs to a friendly fire accident. The army was denying him his purple heart. He told them that if they didn;t award one to him he would give him one of his. The soldier was awarded one.

How about answering the question you were asked?

They were there before and they are there now....its just that Howard dean passed down the commandments to his underlings to deny that.

My reaction to Murtha is two-fold. My immediate reaction was that his proposal sounds like a recipe for disaster. On the other hand, when someone of his stature speaks, I listen. It doesn't mean we all need to bow down to Murtha, but I don't see any grounds for the personal attacks leveled by the authors of the two letters you post. I don't fault either man. I just disagree.

As for Murtha's comment about Cheney, I didn't understand him to be responding to any specific comment that Cheney made. He is just disgusted by the man, as are many Americans. Maybe Murtha should rise above his personal feelings for Cheney, but under the circumstances, we should cut his some slack, IMHO.

I don't know what either of them meant. I posted them as opinion because Murtha gave opinion. In the scope of thing I guess all three statements are worthless with regard to decisionmaking.

BTW, you should check out the www.cfr.org link. Roundabout on page 3 of 10 (when printed) there's a paragraph that starts "as director tenet described in august..." Talks about Cheney and his statements regarding Iraq nuclear capability. Turns out there was information in the NIE that stated Saddam could have nuclear weapons in months. Incidentally, this NIE came was out round about the time that you said Bush made the comment regarding the IAEA report. Think there's any chance he may have confused two agencies at an impromptu press conference?

bonehead, I can't let that one pass. That law was passed more than 20 years ago. The scumbag Ashcroft tried to imply that Jamie Gorelick was responsible for the wall between law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

BTW, to call Ashcroft a scumbag is an insult to scumbags everywhere.

Not a travel agent but if you start now, it could take 6 months "strategically" to get all out....
So, next time you go to buy a car and the salesguy says your payments are going to be $400/month but the finance guy writes up the contract for $600/month. Which do you think you're going to pay?

BTW, I heard him say 1-6 months on the TV this am. His statement reads "immediatly". I guess we're back to arguing about words that have had an accepted definition for thousands of years meaning something else now.

You answer my question which is the topic of this thread: Murtha's comments. I have answered your question, it's just not the answer YOU want to hear!!
Again, stay focused on the topic. Iraq and Murtha's comments.

But you see that is what this Admn has tried from the start. Is to somehow link 9/11 with Iraq. There is no link there. And Murtha's comments send a chill down all the chickenhawks spine. Since it is coming from someone who has been there and done that.

Absolutly. So far the Democratic senetors have been railing against the abuse the Bush admin. has aimed at Murtha, irregardless of the fact that the BA hasn't done that. Yet not a single senator has backed Murtha's plan.

I still contend that the subject should be debated in Congress. It's an obviously stupid idea and I'm sure it will be shown as that in open debate. Then we'll be done with that line of thinking. I'm sure that we'll just go through months of sappy media coverage instead though. They'll probably still be covering it when the troops do actually leave Iraq.

My question is on topic...and related to Iraq...answer it...you've had 4 hours to Google it up since you obviously never had any dealing with the intelligence community.
