Don't let your daughters watch some Disney movies
Some of you here may know that I supplement my non-existent student income by babysitting on the side.
Well, tonight we ended up watching some really really bad Disney movies. Let me state my case. After some serious pondering tell me if I am wrong. Cinderella-had the prince not seeked her out (via the slipper) she would still be a pee-on maid. Sleeping Beauty- had the Prince not kissed her, she would still be snoozing in the tower. Alladin- he beckons Jasmine to his magic carpet so he can "Show her the world!'. Well, wasn't he a beggar before? I doubt if he has seen the world himself. How the heck can he show her the world if he himself has not even been out of the county. There are many other movies like this but this line takes the cake..... "When you wish upon a star,....blah blah blah..., your DREAMS WILL COME TRUE!" -----wow, is that all it takes? forget about working hard and getting a good education. Just wish upon a star or find some prince (and hope he's not a crackhead) and your dreams will come true. This is the wrong message we are exposing these young kids to. Since I did not spend my "Disney" growing-up years in the US, I see all this from a different angle. This isn't a man-bashing thread! I'm just amazed as far as these movies go. my $0.02
