I declare the ACLU a terrorist organization....which should be banned for offering aid and support to AlQueda......

And we should add the DNC to that list...since they care more about protecting terrorists rights than American Citizens rights to not be killed.

Anyone who sides with the enemy during a war is committing treason......and most of the DNC and the ACLU are committing treason.

I'll tear a page out of Ya'Alls book. Prove Clinton didn't do it, unless he signed the order for the heck of it.

Three questions:

Prove that Clinton didn't do what?

Who cares what Clinton did or didn't do?

What does that have to do with anything?

Precedent.

If the issue is precedent, then I think the argument is weak because, if Clinton authorized warrantless searches of American citizens, those searches were probably illegal and therefore do not have precedential value.

Plus, medmech is ripping a page from someone's book, but I don't know what book that is. The Bush administration has admitted that it engaged in warrantless wiretaps of American citizens, although mikemover might deny that they admitted any such thing.

It would not surprise me one bit if the Clinton administration condoned warrantless searches of American citizens. That sort of thing probably goes on all the time. And it's wrong.

I wasn't aware the Clinton administration was to be considered the benchmark of truthfulness and moral rectitude, by which all subsequent administrations should be judged; now I know...and I'm a little disturbed.

I haven't said it in several threads and I feel compelled to say it again: If this is a program targeting American citizens with warrantless searches it is wrong. I don't care how many other administrations did it previously. It violates the trust between government and governed in our social contract.

------ There. ------

But if it is a program targeting communication between citizens and non-citizens suspected of being enemies of the USA then we're in a different ballgame. I find it far, far less offensive if the eavesdropping is warrantless under those circumstances. I don't know squat about eavesdropping and know less about spy communication. But I read spy novels sometimes. I can imagine a bunch of bad guys purchasing say, 50 cellphone accounts each, and using them (randomly) to call each other (and also to make innocuous calls) from different locations. Track that. Separate the good guys from the bad guys and figure-out which are citizens and which are not.

Oh yeah, the bad guys are plotting mass murder in a time frame unknown to you.

Who are these "enemies of the USA"? Anyone who publicly disagrees with US foreign policy? Only swarthy males of a certain age who publicly disagree with US policy? How is this defined, and under which terms and contexts? Seems like just about any phone call between the US and a "foreign" country is bound to be between a US citizen and someone who disagrees with US foreign policy--huge pool of potential applicants out there.

I'll publicly declare my guilt, right here, right now. I recently made a call outside this country and had a discussion with someone who disagreed vehemently with US foreign policy. There were frequent expressions of ill will toward the POTUS and his evil cadre. Better file my FOIA request tomorrow.

Thumbs up TRUTH-Don't be scared of it

Why do people bring up Clinton and Carter? This is about Bush, his administration, its abuses, it illegal activities, its failures, and about the whole republican party being a joke!! I for one am PROUD to admit that I am TOO INTELLIGENT TO BE SUCKERED BY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY'S AND THIS ADMINISTRATION'S blatant lies and illegal activities both here at home and abroad. I will now be labeled a terrorist lover What a FREAKIN' JOKE!!!!!!
