Any Guiter Players here?

I play alot of Jazz-fusion, and last week I broke down and ordered a Roland GR-20. For those not in the know, this is a guiter sythesizer setup for a guiter, so that I can play hornes, strings, keys, whatever on my guiter. Anyone on here play with one of these? I got it Friday, and even this morning I had a hard time NOT calling off work. So much fun. I will begin recording tonight.

Man...I used to play but I haven't picked up a guitar in years. Lost all my calouses and all.
My son picked it up and has been playing. Recently got into a band. He has my electric guitar now.
My daughter picked up the drums but somehow got a hold of my acoustic.

Wonder how that happened??

Put up some demo's here.

I play the git-fiddle, bass, and am learing the banjo.
Do the horns, strings, and keys sound realistic. On some of the synthesizers I have briefly used they don't sound very good. I have never been a big effects guy, but they are sure fun to toy around with. I would love one of the machines that loop rifs. You can be the whole band by yourself, like Kellar Williams.

Funny that you should mention the looper, because I bought a loopstation (boss) about a year ago. Yesterday morning I had a nice sounding jazz run that included a standup bass, piano, drums, and saxaphone. My girlfriend thought it was a CD. Kinda nice for writing and producing. Anyway, most of the sounds sound pretty real. Everything sounds really good, but you have to tweek your playing style and preamp effects to get some of them to sound "perfect". I've never really been an effects kinda guy, either. I'm all about playing clean, maybe some slight OD. The standup and fretless bass patches sound the most realistic of all. And by the way, my Double-Decker Double-Wide always blairs Keller. String Cheese?

I have never listened to String Cheese, but I have heard a lot about them. I have heard Keller Play with them on some internet available stuff. I will check the out for sure. Have you ever seen Keller play live? I saw him last summer in Eugene, OR. WOW, he is a killer guitar player, and he does it all on acousic. I have been playing guitar for 12 years and I still don't understand how he makes some of the noise that comes out of that guitar he plays.

Yep, I play in a band.

Gibsons are my main electrics, I have Taylor 310ce acoustic, amps are old Marshalls and a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier.

That sounds like me!
I haven't played in 20 years but I still have 2 Martin acoustics, a Gibson electric and a Fender electric. Oh and I still have my old Fender Twin-reverb amp that needs new tubes.
One day I'll have to spring for some new strings and see how bad I really am!

Oh man, you're breaking my heart...

Supposedly, violins age better if they're played regularly, some studies done on similar Strads -- some kept in first class storage or museum display, and others that have been played regular -- and the stored ones didn't sound as good, or so they said.

Theory is, that guit-boxes are the same way. I used to be nuts about Martins. My first guitar was a mahogany top Martin, I forget the model number, that my mother bought for me in Roswell, NM for $108 in 1960. Lord have mercy, I had no idea at the time how privileged that was for a first guitar. I never did own another one, though I lusted heavily for them. Instead, I figured I could spend the same money and learn how to make them myself. Well, it cost a little more than I thought it would, but I did make some decent instruments though never made much of a living at it. Did you hear about the guitar maker who won 2.7 million pounds in the English lottery? When asked what he was going to do, he said, "Oh, I'll just keep making guitars til it runs out."

Anyhow, blow the dust off'n of those old jewels, it'll help keep your mind sharp longer, or so they say.

What the hell, here's a few pics:

This one looks like a classical but it was actually a steel string.

This one was a couple years old, my keeper; I was doing an overhaul on the fret board and adding inlays. I placed the nut blank in place, can't remember if it was bone or ivory.

Here's a Bulgarian tamburah. A good friend of mine who was making viloins when he was 17 studied music in Bulgaria (Russian parents) and had some students that wanted these so I made four of 'em to his specs, and with major design assistance from him. They're a lot like a Greek bazuki and similar to an Irish citern.:

The two frets are missing because I had two small holes in the fret slot for pins to hold the fingerboard in place while clamping it down w/ glue. Stuff slides real easy w/ wet glue as lubricant and that's the last thing you want with the fingerboard.
