I can't believe that...(and not W related)

Has anyone been following the stories on this chick over in France that had her face replaced with some other gals face? Seems the doctors volunteered to try it out on her as kind of a test bed for future surgeries of this type.

i.e. This seems like one lucky gal to be getting a new face at low cost.

I was thinking about her while reading some of the “Fat American” posts regarding health care costs.

Anyway - If you're not into covering the meds for some fat dude who's eating himself to death - Stop and think of how those doctors must have felt when this b*tch went home and the first thing she did was start smoking again. Geezz - I can’t believe that. Like telling the doctors: ”Thanks for all the hard work and millions of dollars you put into making me look better. But I’m just going to go kill myself now, regardless of the new lease on life you’ve given me.” If I were those doctors I’d be heading over to her house to take the new face back. What a slap in the face. (no pun intended)

She was a chain smoker before having much of her face chewed off by a dog. She did not have this procedure done as some sort of beauty treatment. She still smokes which leads me to believe that traumatic injury is not much of an aid in quiting smoking. Did you think otherwise?
The only conclusion I can make is that repeatedly calling this poor woman a ***** reflects poorly on you.

Paul

In Europe, smoking has not evolved into the same socially disrespectable practice it has in the US.

we also happen to have the best health care if your middle to upper class.
If your low class or poor your screwed.

Sure health care is free in Canada and the UK but who wants to wait 2 months to get toothache fixed?

Yes, I am aware that she was a chain smoker before the incident with the dog.

No, I do not think that a traumatic injury will cure her of her smoking habit.

No, I don’t give a rats ass that in Europe or anywhere else on the planet it is or isn’t a socially disrespectable practice.

I look at the bottom line facts: It is terrible for your health. It kills you. And we all know that. Her included. Not to mention the possible effects after the transplant. Why do you think the doctors had such a fit when they found out about it?

OK - You’re right about my name calling.
For these doctors (the hospitals, labs, nurses, staff, etc. No to mention the donor and her family.) to go through everything they did for her, and to have her not be grateful enough (nor self respecting enough) to stop killing herself afterwards, makes her something that the term “*****” doesn’t cover. I'll try to come up with a better one.

Unless you’re one of the fat, chain smokers incapable of actually doing so: THINK ABOUT IT !!!

“This poor woman” just got her life handed back to her !!

Hmmmm.... Y'all smokers by chance ??

One of my pilots just informed me that you have to be a person who cares about your own health to think that others are capable of doing the same. Hmmmm Deep thought….that.

Its true... I get a funny look when I turn down a cigarette offer. Or when someone asks me for a lighter and I tell them I don't have one... they think I'm lying.

I take it, you've not been to Sweden or Belgium lately ?

Belgium banned smoking in public buildings back in 1986.
Sweden, there's NO DRINKING at all before or while driving on public roads.
Plenty other countries with smoking restrictions more restrictive than USA..

oh well.....sorry....

I just thought it sounded nicer than: "PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR --- !!"

Well - Without even seeing them, I’m willing to bet good money on who’s a fat, hard core republican smoker.

And darned if that doesn’t make three times in one thread I’ve been wrong and must stand corrected.

1. When I said the post wasn’t related to W. Wrong - There is a relation here. Seems, like other posts have stated before, that like Bush backers, some folks don’t see the facts. Can’t come up with a factual response. So they get all offensive toward the ones making the statements they don’t like. Sure enough. Here they are again.

2. Brian was right about my diet theory in the “Fat Americans“ thread. If their head fits up there with their mouth attached, I guess I was wrong in my facts about human anatomy. Thanks for getting me straight there Brian. For that, you’ve earned a ride.

3. I was wrong to call her a Bi*ch in the first place. Maybe her dog was just tired of choking all day. I guess he could call her that and it would be ok. Either way though, I haven’t quite found the right word yet.

And I guess we can go for #4 as well: I was totally wrong in my estimation on the number of responses from folks with common sense here. A few, yes, but my numbers were still way off.

Oh well - I'm learning.......

And- To whomever edited my post title. Thanks. I’m sorry about that. Won’t happen again.

You either pay it to the med types or pay it to the government through taxes who pays it to the meds types. Ours isn't significantly higher except maybe drug costs. of course without FDA oversight, other contries can sell just about any drug they want for cheaper. Our government is looking out for our welfare....

I agree with the notion that it's pretty astoundingly stupid of her to still be smoking... She's already going to have VERY high risk of problems from infection, tissue rejection, nerve damage.... Smoking is only going to compound it.

It's also worth noting that she got her faced munched by the dog AFTER GETTING PI$$-DRUNK AND PASSING OUT IN THE FLOOR. She was SO intoxicated that she didn't even wake up when the dog was removing part of her face.

She also said that it still didn't hurt when she woke up sometime the next day and tried to light a cigarette, and it wouldn't stay in her mouth!

Lovely, eh?....

Mike

Don't believe that for a second.

Aside from a very small handful of politicians, our government is looking out for its OWN welfare, and nothing more.
