Anyone know a bunch about Grundfos Pumps?
Figured I'd ask before I went into a whole long out thing...
Thanks, Pete |

Pump is a pump. Brand doesn't really matter. What kind of pump?

What are the symptoms? Does it not switch speeds? Not work at all? Makes noise?

Works perfectly. Just need to have an extra one on hand in the event of failure.

I can't help you there. Thought you had a problem with it. They really last a long long time generally.

Grundfos, the brand, or the pump in general?

Grundfos is a good pump. Should go many tens of years without any attention. Most brands of circulators last waylong.

I agree. I have two Grundfos pumps and they've been in service on the two houses for many years without issue.
The Taco and B&G circulators are also known for their longevity. |

The only thing with the old Bell & Gosset is that goofy spring coupling that wears out from the springs eroding the hole. Other than that, they last forever.

I have been around and used Grundfos pumps in industry both overseas and in the States for year and have never had any complaints. They have a very good reputation. Obviously there are lemons but in general they are good.

i have used grunfos products i think but not sure what.
on my old building which was 20k sf there was an ancient hot water boiler with two zones. two pumps. not sure what brand. one started making noise. it had to be at least 50 years old. i took the phone number off it and called the factory. in a couple of days i had a kit to rebuild the coupler. it took maybe a half hour and it was back in service. i prob wouldn't order a new extra pump ( when you get the price you will see why, maybe) but would keep an eye on it and try to preempt total failure with prompt maintenance when something starts going south. on the other hand if you could find a good used pump (ebay?) maybe keeping one around wouldnt be a bad idea. tom w
