I'll be cutting down some more trees on my property so they don't fall on my neighbor's house this winter. Damned pine trees! They're like big weeds. Then, once I'm done, I think I'll vegetate in front of the tube with some good movies, too. |
On Saturday, I'm mowing the lawn. We are going to a antique auction Saturday night, I have my eye on a 30/30 lever action Winchester. Hopefully, it's a pre-64.

Going to my school football game in a few hours, tomorrow, I'm going to the junk yard to pull a side mirror for a girl at school and a new gas pedal for my Benz, as well as a few other little bits and pieces that I can get free (fuses, couple relays, a lost nut).
Now, should I go with a stock plastic gas pedal, or replace both the gas and brake with the shiny metal ones? |
going to look at an SD hopefully saturday and get to go to work for a long and grueling 3 hour shift

interesting week this week
I sold my son's KTM motocross bike on ebay about a month ago and the fella sent 30% of the payment at the end of the auction (person that bought it is from Indianapolis, IN). Anyway, in talking with him via email and the phone I got the impression that he did not work. He drives down this past Wednesday evening and shows up around 8 pm in a new mega cab Dodge four door turbodiesel pickup truck. He gets out of the truck and I could not believe my eyes. This guy was the tallest person I have ever seen in my life. I asked him how tall he was and he said he is 7'-4". I finally get around to asking him what he does for a living and he says that he is retired (40 yrs old) but he does own some businesses. Come to find out he had retired in 2000 from 12 years of playing pro basketball - Rik Smits. I do not keep up with basketball but mentioned it to a friend at work who does and come to find out this guy was a big time player for the Pacers and is now into motorcycles. He was purchasing it for his 10 yr old son and said he won't purchase him a new one because he has to get one every year with the rate his son is growing. He also had an antique stove on the truck that he had purchased off of ebay. Really nice guy that obviously is pretty heavy into dirt bike riding now.
Tomorrow I will be starting assembly of a 240D engine that I am rebuilding - new sleeves and pistons:). Tomorrow evening we are going to McRae, Ga to attend a wedding reception of my college room mates daughter. Hopefully, Sunday will be quiet. |
I'm going to mow the front and back lawn, and plant 8 plants that I purchased today at the local nursery: podocarpus gracilius. It's common name is Japanese Yew. Should make a nice hedge in front of a wrought iron fence at the back of my property.

I've had this thing for a pre-64 for over twenty years, ever since my buddy let me shoot his at target practice. The action was so smooth, and the rifle so well balanced that I savored every minute it was in my hands. |

Rats, I just called the auction house and got the serial number. It was made in the mid '70s. I already had my doubts after looking at the picture. We are still going, it's worth it just for the boiled penuts and corn dogs. My wife thinks both are gross, but since I'm driving I am sure she will bring along a special "big gulp"(rum and coke) for dinner:D . |
eating Cuban food with my step-mother and Sam.

Finishing some projects
I'm hopefully going to finish building my daughter's bedroom furniture this weekend. Then it's on to the next project.

I have a crew in the backyard clearing/trimming trees up in the hillside. It is hard work...I am glad I went to law school. I couldn';t earn a living that way. Later this evening my youngest daughter is coming home for the weekend, she is bringing her roomate, a real nice girl from Virginia. Sunday morning a crew from the Film School is coming to our home to do some interior shots. Man, I love being surrounded by college kids...keeps me young! |
Mistress will don her emerald green marilyn monroe wiggle dress and head out to a good friend's wedding and if all goes well, my boyfriend and I will be able to take some decent 4X5 B&W polariod photographs....
