When the twins get out of kindergarten at noon, we're loading them up in the Volvo XC70 Cross Country AWD, and taking them to Wrightwood to play in the snow. :)

Layoffs are on the way...huge ones!

I had reliable sources that infomed me of this a few weeks ago...now it's pretty much made it through the company rumor mill.

As many as 10,000 will be laid off in the next two weeks. Really tense for our family as my wife and I work for the same corporation!

Paul:

When I saw you mentioning the taking the kids "...to play in the snow." my thought was "You're not tired of this stuff yet?"

Then I saw that you're from S. Cali...explained it all right there...

Enjoy the time with them in the white...remind them that they have to be "nice" in the snow 'cause when it melts, it runs down hill and into the lakes where they will, eventually, drink it themselves!!! :D ;)

(It's so much fun to mess with thier heads when they're that young...you get to watch the wheels turn and see how they react to what you're saying...then you know for sure if they pay attention to you or not...)

Then, buy them an ice cream cone... :D

Thanks SwampY:

Mary did quite a bit of soldering (flux fumes along w/the tin/lead solder) over the past 40 years (worked at Decatur Electronics, then she had the job where I met her and she ended up introducing me to her daughter/grandson (my ex and son)) ALONG with the cigarettes...so I can see a FEW areas where the spots could have started from...geesh...it seems like everything we have that is suppose to make life easier has some sorta' "kick-in-the-pants" re-action in it...eventually...

I just got word that she made it through the nite after the first round, she's got color back in her (she was a whiter shade of pale/grey when I saw her before I left yesterday morning...) and she's able to talk without coughing or hacking...the nurses mentioned that she slept peacefully and didn't get up or ring them 'til they came in for the the 0530 routine (whatever the hell that is...) so they're thinking that she's in a good enough state that she should be able to tolerate the chemo alot better than they had expected her to...

I think they (along w/me) didn't think she had the spunk in her to handle this stuff...I guess being a bit Irish (And a red-headed one at that!) might just prove to them she's got more "spit-&-vinegar" bred into genes to fight this stuff off...I hope so for the ex's sake...the big thing is that Mary didn't have the usual reactions for the chemo that most folks do so it appears that the treatments are starting out on a VERY POSITIVE note...she's got two more treatments to finish up and depending on how those go, she may be able to head back to her place 'til the next round of treatments have to be taken...

I'll be finding out later today how things are going but I've got a "gig" scheduled this evening and tomorrow night in Eau Claire so I might not be on 'til an odd hour or three...

I'll pass along the well-wishes and I'll thank you all in advance for those here and now... :thumbsup2:

Hey G!

I'll be thinking of you, and yours, today...

Nah, after you mess with them about the snow, buy them a sno-cone, a LEMON one!:D

Remember this bit of advice regarding your children,"Never raise your hand to your child. It leaves your mid-section unprotected".

That sounds more like "boxing advice" than child rearing...then, again, you might have been the younger/youngest brother of many in your family!!! :D :P

Nah, just raised two fine, strapping, athletic sons, both of whom tower over me!:P

My uncle has done mainly hobby welding (fixing backhoe, crane, snowplows, building personal submarine) but in his case it's probably equal to those that do it for a living and he did do some side business with it. The ironic thing is that he was vehemently anti-smoking (my grandmother died from lung cancer when I was a young 'un so I'm guessing she was in her late 40's, smoked like a chimney).

The piss-and-vinegar will undoubtedly help your MIL! Tom is definitely fighting it head on.

He does have a running joke with the tech's at the VA Hospital, after all of these brain scans that they haven't found anything yet. :)

Helped with a fancy costume tea party at my older's school this morning. Wasn't supposed to take baby sister, but did anyway--what were they gonna do--send me home?:D 80F here now--hitting the links at 2 cst.

I hope you and your wife survive the purge, G. My wife does some work for your company and had mentioned hearing the same news out of Memphis.

Yardwork and beer drinking are all I have planned. The trees are all budding, the citrus trees have blossomed and the flowers are beginning to sprout. A little raking, some sipping, a little trimming, some sipping, some digging, more sipping......well, you get the idea.

Might wax the woman's car for her on Sunday if she's nice to me. Aw shucks, if she's being nice to me then waxing the car is probably the last thing we'll be doing!
