20th Anniversary celebration for the local Harley Owners Group Chapter (Cumberland County, Millville NJ) tonight. I spent about 9 years as a primary officer of one sort or another, including two years as Director. (I'll be on 4 wheels, Mistress, not 2. Not to worry.;):))
Sunday I'll be at the Eagles' game vs Kansas City, watching Mike Vick return to the NFL? (Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought Jeffrey Lurie would take Vick into the Eagles fold. Sure shocked me!:rolleyes:) |

as for Vick: "In interviews earlier this week, Michael Vick used the words marvel and amazed when describing the second chance that he has been given by the Eagles. He lauded the organization, his teammates, the fans, the city and the coaching staff. In an recorded interview that will air before Sunday's game on CBS, Vick said he is surprised by the role he finds himself in upon returning to the NFL, although not specifically with the Eagles, because he has gone out of his way to compliment Donovan McNabb and been clear that he understands where he fits in with the Birds. Vick has repeatedly expressed his appreciation to the Eagles and made clear that his role here is to support McNabb and contribute in whatever way is asked of him. "This is not the exact scenario I thought would play out," Vick told CBS, according to USA Today. "I thought I'd be playing with a team and actually starting." Vick also said he intends on making the most of his second chance for the long term. "I know I can play this game," he said. "I know I can play it for a long time. I still have the speed, the quickness and the mind to run an NFL offense." Asked to make a full transcript of the interview available to the Daily News, a CBS spokesman declined." |

For us, priority numero uno has become The War On Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs (TWOBMSB). http://ento.psu.edu/extension/insect...jpg/image_mini Had some of the little bastages last year this time; over the past three days we've gone from "this is getting annoying" to "hoary clap, tie down the dogs lest the winged creatures from hell carry them (and our furniture) away!" Tuesday night spent two hours vacuuming hundreds of them out of the house. Wednesday night it was four hours of quality shop vac time collecting thousands of them. Last night was back to the hundreds - still had to get outta bed a dozen times or more to grab a few die hards that were going all kamikaze on Darling Wife's head after the lights went out. TWOBMSB cannot be fought chemically (nothing commercially available kills 'em, and both Darling Wife and I are hesitant to go there anyway). Traps aren't available. Read one story about a lady who tried to go natural and use Venus Fly Traps. F'n bugs swarmed the plants, but stayed out of the pitchers. She fed one to a plant, and the plant died in less than 24 hours. So, we're left with trying to seal the house. Should be easy on a 90 year old farm house with multiple Goldberg-esgue muddle-fications over the years, right? Stocking up on caulk & expanding foam, and seriously considering flamethrowers. Though I guess that would be sorta counter to the whole "seal it" concept, wouldn't it? Anybody got any other suggestions, speak up! |
I've got bad news for you my friend. There is no way you will ever seal those pests out! Not with the amount of wood siding and add-ons on your house.
Maybe try one of those "sonic" bug thingamajigs? |

The rain cometh again but not before some nice people from Texas came and put up a flatbed trailer full of bricks on the building. These guys had the process and technique down pat. The shop is moving along nicely:)

TX- looking pretty good there. Nothing exciting this weekend....just chillin.

Well TD Bank/Banknorth/Commerce/%&$& has done a fairly good job of making our fiscal year end a lot more "interesting" than it needs be. Deposits still not posting so the sweep acct. isn't paying down our operating loan (part of our loan covenant is getting the operating loan {which runs the calendar year} balance down to zero. Money starts going back out the door next week.) Plus employee direct deposits are hit-and-miss. And this all started Wednesday.
Other than that... We've got a couple fall baseball games if the weather cooperates tonight and tomorrow. Sunday is our town's 375th Anniversary Parade, which was postponed from last Sunday because of rain. Should be a fun time, no marching this time even though I was in pretty high demand :smug:, we're having about 30 people over to have a tailgate party on our front lawn and watch it go by. Showers are forecast for the morning but are supposed to clear out by mid-day. :beerchug: |
Well after last weekends successful new shower door install, I'm replacing the toilet this weekend....and next weekend the vanity....

Rainy and drizzly, it would seem that fall weather is on its way. Cooler temps and all.
S#1 is supposed to have a baseball game tonight but that's weather dependent. I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if it was rained out since the Mrs. has a school fundraiser event that she's going to so it'd be all of the kids and I at his game with the other 3 kids being bored out of their minds. Working a 1/2 day tomorrow then some more yard work. It's only taken us 12 years to lose the neighborhood dump (self-)designation after the painting and repaving. I'm hoping to carry that momentum into the backyard and get it a little less swampy. I've only got about 9 more yards of wood chips to spread along the property lines in an attempt to take it back from the woods. Quote:
