Have a great weekend, everybody!

Just got the boat back after the "redo" on the SS Prop (Marine service dept., dinged it taking it off the trailer a few weeks back). I've taken pictures of items I've dropped off at stores before, but THANK DOG I shot the prop before handing it to the Service Manager. They had to eat the cost on the refurbishing and boy, does it look great.

Anyways, this morning, I secured a slip for the rest of the summer on the Black River and will be dropping her in the water (for the rest of the season), officially on the 7th...one last item is getting a canvas cover and that will be completed on the 6th.

I might dip her tomorrow, weather pending. You don't want to hassle with a "new" boat while the rain and wind is slapping you around.

Speaking of 8!tch-slapping...

I watched a DB put his 16'er in the water, yesterday, and with all the enthusiasm of a non-house-broken puppy in his new digs, this clown drops his boat at the dock, parks his truck/trailer, skips back to the dock, hops in, fires it up, pulls out and by the time he's about 100' from the dock, he's trying to get back in to the dock, tie up, RUNS to the truck/trailer, panic-parks the rig as far into the water that he can go and still keep the river out of the truck's cab, hooks the bow up to the un-seen trailer and pulls his nearly-sunken to the gunwhales boat out of the river.

DB forgot to put in his transom-plug.

I'm sure I'm going to see ALOT of that yet this year...and I sure as hell don't want it to be me...

Hey! What ever you're doing this weekend, be safe out there 'cause you can bet the other guy won't...

I'm not looking forward to it. No one is....

She has been a loyal companion for 12.5 years. Shes provided unconditional love, and protection no matter the circumstances. We put her on pain meds about a year and a half ago, as shes a Great Dane, and was starting to have hip problems. The meds made it easier for her, but recently she started having hip problems again. Changed dosages to no avail, tried different meds, mixtures of meds, and well, no change. She started to have problems holding herself up 2.5 weeks ago, and collapsed while she was eating. Took her in, and the doc perscribed what he said was the highest dosage he could do... Didn't change. She has got worse, to the point where she is having pretty bad problems walking and staying on all 4s...

Gah I am getting a bit teary (at work too). :(

I might be on later.

La Crosse is located on the western edge of Wisconsin, on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River. If you have a map, just follow the river northward from the WI./IL. line until the river just starts to bend toward the northwest...that the center of La Crosse, right there.

If you're traveling the I-System, I-90 is the northern limit of the city and can be accessed from Exits #2-#5 day or night.

As for the "short skirts and running around w/nets" - the "skirts" are Liederhosen and the "nets" are really glass/porcelain mugs that are used to transport "the golden ale of beers longing to be freed from their casks of capture."

That season (OKTOBERFEST!!!) is only a month, or two, away...

Yah! Vee gets drunk and stupid too... :P

Yeah, I got stoopid drunk at O.Fest in LaCrosse a few times. Don't recall much, nice lil town though.

I know what you mean I spent a month in Frankfurt AM. Main one week.

ramonajim 08-10-2012 10:17 AM

Wheeeeeeeee!

Helluva week at work, topped by Sr. VP type waltzing into my office Wednesday saying "you're gonna hate me...."

Seems we're looking at buying a portion of a company. A big portion, with lots and lots of entanglements in the manufacturing realm. Gonna have to figure out how to separate the pieces we buy, which of those pieces we had to buy but don't want going forward, and the pieces that stay.

My piece? Move the manufacturing of the stuff we do want from current spot to one of our contract manufacturers, and move the stuff we bought but don't want to where ever the people we dump it on wants it.

Really, really, really crude slightly damp thumb in the air first read tells me this is gonna be a) big, b) complex, and c) include technologies we don't currently manufacture. Including high speed RF stuff - black magic stuff I've dealt with in the past, but our current contract manufacturers have not.

Was ready to tell Sr. VP dude "12 months, aggressive, and I need a dozen bodies I don't have today." Reading through the acquisition docs last night, hidden in a foot note on slide 57: ".... financials assume manufacturing fully outsourced to low cost region ...." 4 months after I MIGHT get to start moving.

Oh goodie.

:P
