Hey, it's Friday again! Woohoo. What will you be doing this weekend? I'm sure everyone is aware that today marks the 215th anniversary of the founding of Cleveland. What will you be doing to celebrate?

Same thing everyone has been doing in Cleveland for the last 215 years, booing the local sports teams! :P

What could be better ?
Adding to the collection , a nice complete car -I went to purchase ,thinking it was a parts car. The fella bought two years ago from original owner - drove it to garage - lost keys ,lost interest etc etc

Getting it towed home tomorrow ( my '72 280 key opened door !)
Its in nice shape inside , not ragged out , headliner intact , nice mats
engine bay shows new coils ,cap belts ,hoses - a pleasant surprise maybe ?
:)

Went to a Northwoods League Ballgame last night...opposing coach got thrown out during the 2nd inning...he leaves the field and everyone thinks that the end of it.

Then the announcement over the PA system...

"Will the driver of the "Woodchuck's" team bus please report to the bus?"

The whole stadium exploded...

And...whatever got the coach kicked out...it had to be in their dugout's Gatoraide...almost every inning after that, someone was either arguing a call with the umpires or challenging the calls at the plates.

Bottom line? The local team (Loggers) beat the Woodchucks, 4-5, with a tagout at homeplate...(and more b!tching at the umpires)

Now, I'm waiting for the call-back today, from the the body-shop, about that rear windshield on SLC. If it's in and they can seal it without cracking it, then I'll be enjoying some Vino In The Valley on Sunday. The Twin Cities chapter of MBCA is doing the shindig. Otherwise, it's a no go. The 280E has an issue with the fuel pump...Either a relay or the pump itself...

Two MBs and neither are available as of this missive...

Only 6 more hours to go...

We made it through round one with the IRS relatively unscathed. They made an appointment to come back Sept. 15 for some inventory cost justification. Once again, shouldn't be too tough, all we do is take product cost + shipping cost in so there's no secret formula to try to justify.

Tonight we've got a 40th birthday party for a friend of ours, sans kids. We're meeting up for an early dinner so we can have a few drinks afterwards without it being too late of an evening.

I'm headed to Maine with my family at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning to meet up with my parents. Just going to spend a long weekend away from TV, computers and the internet again. Some swimming, some kayaking, some hiking, lots of sitting around enjoying adult beverages around the firepit and generally b.s.'ing while the kids enjoy their expanded boundaries.

I'm off through the 16th on vacation so after we get home from Maine we'll do some more daytripping with the kids. Visit a (fairly) local zoo, aquarium, probably spend a day or two at my aunt's lake house in eastern CT, maybe another day at our secret beach if the jellyfish aren't too bad. I'm also going to finish up some yard work I didn't get to my last vacation week.

I might even pull the boat out of mothballs and get in cleaned up and ready to sell or trade. I'd really like to get a camper or possibly some landscaping equipment so I'll be perusing the barter pages during my free time. As much as I love boating, until I can afford to get something big enough for all of us to enjoy for a long weekend I figure it's best to go a different direction for awhile.

Happy Friday everybody! What do you have planned for this weekend? I had a great road trip to CT last weekend to see some friends, so this weekend I have to get back to work on the house in earnest to make up for lost time. There's nothing like taking your Mercedes out on the road and cruising somewhere.
I'm thinking of plank grilling a salmon this weekend.

I work Saturdays, however I have Mondays off while you suckers are slaving away. :D

Dee8go 08-12-2011 10:53 AM

At least you have two consecutive days off. I'd hate to have a job where you get two days off, but they are not in a row. There are definite advantages to have a weekday off from work.

In CT, theoretically helping Chickie and Louis move their house here closer ready for sale so we can get him moved down to Frederick.

Reality is that we went to bed after 5 ayem, it's after 3 pm and we're in food coma state following "breakfast" yummyiness created by Darling Wife.

Tomorrow I'm on a train at some ungodly hour heading for JFK and then on to China for the week. Oh goody.

Spent lunchtime picking up paint and supplies for Saturday for my daughter's

"Senior parking spot painting day!" :huepfenic

I might post pics when I'm done if I haven't died from heatstroke!

Spending the last day of an unscheduled vacation bemoaning the fact that as of midnight I'll be on the weekend which is technically, "not on the company's dime". Sigh, ain't nothing so sweet as doing nothing and having someone else pay you for not doing it.

mgburg 08-13-2011 12:58 AM

GUI decided to freeze up...so tomorrow I'm heading to Colfax to electrically kick its behind...2 hours up and 2 hours back for 15 seconds of work...

That's why they pay me the bucks...

I might stop at a casino somewhere and play a few numbers on the wheel or get a chance at a few BlackJacks...

ON THE CAR FRONT:

I got the call about the rear-windshield. The replacement arrived and it turned out to be too cloudy, so it was returned. PROGRESSIVE gave in and they're buying a NOS for $1,350. Why couldn't the front windshield have gotten cracked?

Beggers can't be choosers... *sigh!*

MAYBE...JUST MAYBE...I'll have the car by Tuesday or Wednesday this coming week...
