Eeeeyup! That's what ya' do up here afore the cold and winter sets in...

I'm surprised CLK hasn't chartered a tour bus and already gotten himself "booked" into the local "Hotel Graybar" - people have been getting kicked out of their rooms this past week for all the incoming "previous bookings" that have started showing up since last week Thursday. Even when the President(s) have been in town, Oktorfest is more of a logistical nightmare than even he is. And it's, at least, 2-3 days straight. Keep in mind...we have 3 separate Post-HS campuses in town...UW-La Crosse, Viterbo University and Western Wisconsin Technical College. Then you have the "townies" and the regular local "flavor" and finally, everyone else that shows up for the parade...during which there are over 4x's the usual population along the route...over 200,000+!!!

I wouldn't mind having a piece of the PortaPotty Consession, just none of THAT work!!

Let's just say I'm happy I'm leaving for the Winneconne/Oshkosh area right afterwards and I'm taking the fun Benz with me...

Forgive the self-centeredness of my position today, but I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of child #1. We're a week PAST due as of tomorrow, with no signs of labor as yet, so Dr. says it's time to induce. At 6am tomorrow, we'll be at the hospital getting ready to become parents. Life as I know it is about to come to a crashing halt, and a fantastic new frontier is just around the corner! I couldn't be more excited!

That said, if those of you who are praying types would be so kind, your appeals for a healthy baby (and complication-free delivery) would be most appreciated. Have a great weekend, all; I know I will!

Ahhh, yes. One of life's two great events. The arrival of the first child and the next is the departure of the youngest!

Best wishes and enjoy the new journey.

Maine has the winter weather but they lack the big Oktoberfest's that you guys get! There's fun in numbers!

Well, I guess that's a good excuse.

That's how my first and second ones went and then both turned out to be unscheduled C-Sects. The third and fourth didn't have a choice (scheduled C-Sects) so we never had the excitement/panic of flying to the hospital at a moments notice.

Best of luck to all involved!

Prayers said! Please post pix when you can. This has been a wild week for sure- I celebrated my 20th anniversary at work on Monday they had a great luncheon and gave me an engraved plaque and a pair of Chanel sunglasses....i got my annual review with a raise and bonus check. Within 48 hours it all turned to crap. My best friend at work, Ali whom I worked with closely on setting up our database and maintaining our server for the last 8 years got layed off! I feel like someone punched me in the head! We built this system together starting out with one computer with a sony monitor to a server and 15 computers hooked up too it. Some days i hate the bottom line.

In the "OCTOBER ROLL CALL" I digressed a bit, but I'm hitting the road in a few minutes to exercise the gaskets and remove a few migrating spiders from the window and wheel wells of the SLC. Other than that, I'm hoping the weathermen are on the low side of the temperatures for the weekend...and if not, they hit it on the head.

Well, this day started off pretty damn good. Fairly busy at work, sunny and mid-70's (damn near perfect in my book), leaves on the trees just starting to change color so there are tinges in the sunlight. Finalized plans to pick up 80 donated pumpkins for the scarecrow walk my wife organized for the CT Down Syndrome Congress tomorrow (the walk will end at the "pumpkin patch" and each kid will get to pick their own pumpkin), which is also supposed to be perfect weather-wise.

Then I learned that a dear friend in our T21 circle lost her 10yo daughter to cystic fibrosis. Little Renee had a dual diagnosis of Ds and CF but never let it get in her way. She was such a fighter, always with a smile on her face. For my religious friends, I'd really appreciate a prayer for her and her family. For my non-religious friends, please think of them in whatever manner you see fit. I'm not exactly a spiritual person, but I do believe this little angel just got a huge set of wings.

Swamp: I'm sadden to hear of your friend's lose of her daughter. Regardless what Renee was suffering from, a lose of any child is nothing short of heartwrenching.

I'll keep her and her mother in my mind and prayers this weekend.

Smile I went out to dinner last night,

About 1x a month I go to this roadhouse to polish off a really good steak. Decent sized place, always busy, but there is a really nice waitress, who's the master chef.

She is apparently single and once mentioned she likes SF (my hometown before I came here; ) and sometimes, she flirts, touches my arm longer than necessary, things like that, lingers a bit and explains the best way to order a steak.

Last month I was there with a date, and service was perfunctory, but this evening I was there alone. And I was made to feel like a king, she was very friendly, flirted again, stroked my arm and WINKED!

Best meal I have had in ages. Just magnificent! It was pretty clear she tried real hard, came back fron the grill and asked me a few times if it was all right.

So.....after I paid, I went up to her at the grill, where she was working, and slipped a 50% tip in her apron.

Threw away all protocol, and took her in my arms and hugged and kissed her, something I have never done in my life...in frront of all the customers, staff and eveyone. I didn't care and she didn't mind at all either.

I was astonished. She was so soft, pliant, yielding. I better ask her out next time.

I broke a piece that's in-line for the brake booster...I believe. So today will be "look for the part day" and see if I can get my brakes back...

Yaaay! I finally finished building and painting my bookcases and mantle for the living room. Tonight I'm starting on a built-in cabinet for my AV equipment. Hopefully, I'll get the recessed lighting and ceiling speakers installed this weekend.
