Wink *** Voting Holiday? Bah, Humbug! ***

Lawyer jokes aside (My sides are hurting!!! ), if there was a Election Day Holiday (EDH), there probably wouldn't be any more votes for the Democrats. Why? Because there's no skid marks!! OOPS! We've used that line. No, seriously...I sincerely doubt that the extra time off WOULD BE USED to go and vote.

Listen, if the election process is so important, people would get off their dead-@**es and go vote. The last two presidential elections proved that point...what galls the Hard-core Dems is that THEIR SIDE DIDN'T WIN! Simple as that.

So, like kids on a play ground, the Democratic elite DEMANDED THAT CHANGES NEEDED TO BE MADE TO A SYSTEM THAT HAS WORKED FOR OVER 225 YEARS! What a load of crap!

Anyone remember Hillary demanding the electoral college be scrapped? The Democratic leadership ran that for a few days before they ended up dropping it...only a few "hanger-ons" would continue to scream that idea until the press FINALLY let it die the death it deserved.

If an election is too close to be given to a victor, there are rules that REQUIRE a recount. Even the loser does not have to pay for that. Most wards require it. If they don't, it's up to the LOCAL CITIZENS to change their local ordinances to fix the problem - NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

Florida had FOUR YEARS following the "Chads-from-Hell" season. What happened? The Democratic machines in the very same counties that had all the problems in '00 STILL DID NOTHING TO IMPROVE THE VOTING SITUATIONS. THEY WERE THE ONES THAT COULD HAVE CHANGED THINGS. THEY DID NOTHING. And we're suppose to let them dictate how the country is suppose to be run? Are you fr**king nuts? I hope not.

The beauty of this country, and its election laws, are that they are written by the people, for the people and serve the people. If they don't pursue their rights for life, liberty and happiness, why should they demand that the government GIVE it to them?

I hope there's NEVER an EDH.

Maybe, to prove a point and drive home the idea that rights are important to EVERYONE, what would happen if we took the latest "national holiday" (Martin Luther King Day) and tied it to a primary election? You know why it won't happen? Two reasons...#1.) Most elections aren't even held during that time of the year...too early, even for a primary; #2.) No one is WILLING to give up THEIR holiday to do something POLITICAL. They will demand another, separate day, for voting.

Now, getting back to reality, I've been able to get to our local poll BEFORE it opens (7AM). I'm not bragging, I'm stating fact. Why was I there so da*n early? I had things to do that day and I wasn't going to be able to "break free" for the time needed in order to cast my vote later. Simple. Period. But point being made was, I planned it out the night before...not as an afterthought. I knew what I had to do and I planned my day for it.

If my opposition isn't willing to defend his rights properly, then that's one more vote for my side. I'm not going to do his thinking for him. And, if his candidate didn't win because of: BLAH, BLAH, BLAH...all he has to remember is: There are alternatives to getting your vote counted...the world doesn't need to hold your hand and pull the lever for you.

My vote has counted because I made sure it counted. I didn't rely on others to cast it, and I don't need any extra time to do it myself.

I've yet to have ANY EMPLOYER tell me I can't take the time to vote. And I make sure that anyone that is under my supervision has the same, or better, chance to leave early to get their chance to vote, if they wish. I've let a few go early (and they still got their hourly pay.) and they all were of different "political flavors" - didn't bother me a bit. But I made sure they had the opportunity to exercize their right to vote.

Did I require proof that they used the "time-off" to vote? Nope, and I could have cared less. Knowing what their taste in candidates was, if they took the time to "goof off" and didn't get to the polls on time-I know it wasn't because I caused it for them. I gave them the time off and they had their own selves to blame if they didn't take the responsibility to fullfill their constitutional rights and obligations. I am not, nor will I be, a "hand-holder" for the lazy. And it galls me, to no end, that we have people out there that think we need to support people that are that lazy.

If you can't win with your ideas and inspire people to get up and vote, I don't want you, or your kind, leading our nation. There are too many important things to leave to the indifferent. Or the cheaters!

Thank you for letting me be a part of your thought processes.

most people's solution to a bureaucratic failure is:

1. Less bureaucracy
2. More bureaucracy
