89 Olds Toronado slams into reverse... help plz

Allright, this has been an issue since my uncle first bought it (last year)... He owned 6 cars at the time, and this was a (very nice) beater, so it didnt get fixed.

When you put it into reverse, and have your foot on the brake, it slams into gear... Enough to make the dash shudder a little bit, and jerk the car. Fluid leval is good, little bit dark (but not burnt smelling), but I dunno.

I'm about to drop around $150 on struts, rotors, pads, and mabey even ponying up a bit more for new frount speakers (blown to SHLIT... thanks Jamie, my wonderfull cousin)... Possiably a new headliner in the winter (cheap time for my uncles friend who owns an interior shop)

I bought this car to save money, I took out a loan for it also (can pay it off easily enough, but still...) It's a VERY nice ride, and an all around good car, except the problems I listed above... It also needs door panals cant find them ANYWHERE... 86-89 only, changed for 90+, if anybody knows where some are...

Any idea on what's up with the trans? Mabey it's bad motor mounts, mabey i should put some synthetic trans fluid in it... I dont know enough to know what I dont know about this situation.

I do plan on doing the fluid/filter VERY soon... next weekend possiably.

tks alot
~Nate
