Can xrays show a pinched nerve in the neck. and what is the general treatment for it?

Pressure on a nerve can either be from bone or disc.
An x-ray will not show a pinched nerve. You would need a CT Scan or better, an MRI to show that. An xray will show if you have any unusal spinal conditions such as a spur on a vertebrae or a narrow spinal passage. It will also show the condition of your discs. Your description doesn't say if you have any arm numbness or loss of muscle use in your arms or hands. This would help identify the location of the problem in your spine. What started out for me as a sometimes pain in the neck gradually over time grew into a condition (spur pressing on C8 nerve) requiring major league cervical fusion. I went to a chiropractor and a neurologist. Both said the same thing: Surgery! Get xrays, and maybe an MRI and have a physical exam for nerve damage. Go from there. Good Luck |

If you end up going the surgical route. Read my thread on cervical spin surgery and do a search on Dr. Jho. He's one of the most innovative cervical spine surgeons out there with an long record of successes.
There is now also the option of an artificial disc over a fusion.
