What rights have YOU lost?
What rights, guaranteed by the US Constitution, and its ammendments, have YOU lost?

Yup, I want to know.
I keep hearing about all these lost rights, but I haven't lost any. I don't know anybody that's lost any, either. Maybe I am wrong and have lost a right or two, and don't know it. Ignorance is no excuse when it comes to law. I do not want to learn who the proverbial "Bubba" is when I get sent to prison for exercising I right I thought had, but did not.

speaking collectively
well, if you think about it collectively, as a popultaion we are gaining rights everyday. not new ones but just more of the same ones. for example, with illegal immigrants, each is afforded the rights granted citizens and we have more illegals every day.

What right of privacy is there, and did you lose it?
And what right of due process did you lose?

I assume you mean, "definite." That word has a strict meaning. Would you care to describe the definite invasion of privacy that you have suffered?

Yawn.
Two hours now. Time for bed shortly. I can't wait to see what rights I've lost when I come back in about 24 hours.

Quote:
By Pastor Chuck Baldwin February 3, 2005 These rights have already been lost! Whether individual Americans have been personally subjected to the resultant tyranny or not doesn't change the fact that they have already lost these freedoms! This fact, alone, should be enough for any studious lover-of-liberty to be outraged! Following are examples of freedoms which President Bush and his fellow Republicans in Congress have already expunged (as reported by the Associated Press): *FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigations. *FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records questions. *FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation. *RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes. *FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans' papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation. *RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial. *RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them.

What right have YOU lost? Emphasis on YOU.
Have you engaged in suspiscious activities relating to terrorism? Are you immigrating? Have you been secretly detained? Have you had any Freedom of Information Act questions been denied? Are you a librarian leaking info on investigations on terrorists? Why would you do such a thing unless you were aiding and abbetting terrorists? Are you a prisoner? Are you a suspected terrorist with papers and effects? Are you going to jail? Indefiantely? With no right to confromt a witness? All this seems to strengthen what I percieve as MY right, and a few hundred million fellow American's right, to live in peace and liberty. None of this affects any of us. If you are a terrorist or are supporting terrorists, then maybe you have a problem on your hands.

Have you ever gone to a sports complex or concert? Have you ever gone throught a sobriety checkpoint? Have you ever gone through a seal belt checkpoint? These are all examples of unreasonable searches without probable cause. Maybe they can be justified for safety, but they are intruding on your constitutional rights regardless of the reasoning behind them.

I guess they will be unreasonable in your interpretation of your rights, but in mine, they are totally and completely reasonable, and in fact, I feel it would be downright remis to not do so.
What will your stance be when some terrorist kills 20,000 people at the World Series or the Super Bowl? It comes down to the interpretation of what reasonable and unreasonable is. I suspect in 1776, it would be very unreasonable to search people entering a sports event. But back then, the technology was lacking for mass destruction, and there were no leaders of rogue states urging terrorists to eliminate infidels. The beauty of the constitution is it is worded to allow for interpretation. Those guys were simply brilliant back then. They knew times would change. They were not stuck in the moment, as many are today. To answer your questions - yes, to all of those examples. And in all cases, I was glad it was occuring to all those around me as well.
