Since Mistress has gotten some of us talking about doing good deeds and the point has been made about how it maybe dangerous to stop and help people sometimes, I thought I would raise another question.

Is the world a more dangerous place now than it was 20 or 30 years ago? Or is the difference in the amount of reportage we hear of crime? Is there really a higher per centage of bad people around nowadays or is it just that we hear more said about it? What are your thoughts?

Take it from me. Things ain't been the same in the Wild West since they started cooking outdoors and going to the bathroom indoors......

the thought of the don out there with a concealed weapon is enough to throw the fear of god into me!

i dont know if things are really worse or i just know more than i used to.

overall i think people are about the same as they always have been. most good, a few bad.

trouble with the tv news and even the papers. they focus on violent crimes way too much.

i prefer reading the paper to the tv news because i can see right away which items are about bad things.... and i just skip over to something useful or funny.

That's partially why I asked. The media sensationalizes violence and while that's nothing new, the pervasiveness of media in our lives is much greater and more constant than in times past.

Sometimes your world view is more dependent upon what you're looking at than on what is objectively happening.

i just got home from work and on the way a camero was broken down in the turn median ( in florida with roads 2 lanes or greater and a median you get into the median when making a left turn) i got out of my car and helped him push it into the grass so he wouldnt block the flow of the turn area.. out of 10 cars backed up i was the only one that got out and pushed ... people today i tell ya.. he thanked me and i was on my way(his dad was on his way to get the car running again)
