Test your internet connection speed???

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

thought some might be able to use this, it gives both download and upload speeds

Ara T. 10-31-2006 01:26 AM

Download Speed: 4964 kbps (620.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 619 kbps (77.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Seems fairly accurate..a lot of times with these tests you get inconsistent results though.

Ashman 10-31-2006 01:32 AM

you can try http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php

Which works pretty good. I always do the smart test.

Mine is usually very high. even when I had my cable modem it was very high, but changed the cable out for DSL. saved a few bucks every month for it.

school computers suck...

i should try it directly from the server... T1 connection anyone

Dee8go 10-31-2006 10:39 AM

Slow up-load speeds. I guess that's consistent with cable modems? I see a big difference in down-load and up-load speeds. Would DSL be more evenly matched?

Hatterasguy 10-31-2006 12:40 PM

Download Speed: 13285 kbps (1660.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1798 kbps (224.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Cable, server out of NY, NY.

I should try it from SCSU's servers. That school has an amazing connection, has to be T1 or better.

Thats what I get on my laptop through my wireless. Looks average for the set up I guess.

T1 maxes out at just above 1500Kb/sec. Modern cable and DSL connections are much faster.

I get 750 down, 300 up connected to cable, through the VPN at work. I'll have to try it when I'm disconnected.
