Used ML class purchasing question?

My wife is going to get rid of her Chrysler Town and Country grocery getter.
185,000 and it is wore out.
She is going to Indy monday to look at MLs.

Here is one she is talking about:

Go for the 2002. The early 1997-2001 ML's are known for their many problems and low quality.

From wikipedia:
Initial quality was poor, and jokes about an "Alabama Mercedes" began to make the rounds. A road test on the British programme Top Gear revealed that the presenter, Jeremy Clarkson, could put his fingers into the gap below the rear lights and above the rear bumper. This improved over the years, especially after a mild facelift for 2002. However, owners are often unhappy with the car's quality - for example, the car was placed last out of 142 cars in the Top Gear Motoring Survey 2004. DaimlerChrysler spent US$600 million on improvements at the Alabama factory before launching the second-generation ML in 2005

Our 99 ML320 was bought new in 2000 and has since racked up nearly 179k kms in our somewhat harsh northern Alberta climate. Once you accept the vehicle is primarily a utility vehicle (I call it our truck) you begin to appreciate how very rugged the first generation ML's are. I've had it up and down logging roads and through fields, hauled everything that could be loaded inside and tied on top, and put many highway miles on the beast. We will likely upgrade to a newer version when this one wears out, but nothing after 2005 because we want our truck

Look for a ML350,the newer (2002-2005)ML's are much better.I had a 1998 ML320 that I hated and I sold it for a E300 TD,a few years later I bought a 2003 ML500 and havent had a problem with it.I can get you in touch with a wholesaler that I bought my ML from.

98-99 E300, W210 body. The TD does not belong with the name, people just add it to say its a turbodiesel.

Even still 300DT, 300DCT and 300TDT are not official names. They are the same case as E300TD, added on by people to show that it's a turbodiesel

To be even MORE specific, a 79-80 300TD is a Mercedes Benz entry level class with a 3.0 liter 4 stroke, n/a diesel engine, touring sedan. A 81-85 300TD is a Mercedes Benz entry level class with a 3.0 liter 4 stroke, turbo diesel engine, touring sedan.
