Same with restaurant health inspectors. They don't like you, you're toast.

hi tom- yes, that publication should be at barnes& noble- I just picked up the latest issue- only found 1 ad in the back of this one,http://silentservant.com/ it is a manual model. probably on the lower end of the prices. I really know nothing about them, except i worked on a few older homes with them installed(not this brand, but d-waiters)
goodluck, take care, mo

thanks, mo.
that looks very interesting. a manual would be more dependable and less money to buy. i suspect if i can find one that can be installed as manual and then a motor added later that that would be ideal. probably no such luck, though. tom w

so it looks like we will be buying a prepackaged unit from california for a little over $3k. it will be electric with two stops. an opening in the garage at 36" above the floor and in the kitchen at the same height (same as a kitchen counter). i will have to use a 3/4 hr. rated door and frame in the garage to maintain the integrity of the fire barrier between the garage and the living area.
after reflecting on the situation i decided that the location and our target market will support and demand an electric dumb waiter in this case. it is called a DWD intelift, by Thinktank.com iirc. thanks for all input, guys. tom w
