HD radio . . . more like digital radio. The signal is like sat radio in that it is a digital signal, not analog. With the digital transmission, there shouldn't be any signal "drift" or "noise" and if done right, could approach CD quality.

However, some station compress their digital signals to allow more channels or features in the datastream so that the sound quality is substantially less than its potential.
