A co-worker owns a Prius and those things are very quiet.

I am not sure that they are so quiet that a dog won't hear it though.

Recently, blind pedestrians have been complaining that Priuses are dangerous to them because they cannot hear them coming, like they can hear a regular gas engined car (or a diesel!).

Prius drivers should beep and yell at then to move out of the way, works for BMW drivers...

We should take the stupid beeping reverse signals out of snowplows working at 3 a.m. and put them into Priuses. People will sleep better and fat dogs everywhere will breathe (somewhat, depending on lung space to fat ratio) easier.

Yeah, I heard a story about blind people not liking the Prius on NPR today. I imagine a dog would hear it but if he'd been conditioned to moving for a vroom-vroom! car he/she might not be up on the Prius. I was standing next to one on a quiet culdesac street and as it pulled away slowly from the curb, I could barely hear a thing. I mean at speed, you'd have the tire whine but not at 2 mph.
