No don't shine your simple facts on this debate!

Know one put a gun to there head and said smoke this joint or your dead. They were adults, they knew what could happen if they were caught, deal with the results.

Enormous and utter Booo$h1t, I don't care if it is 2 years old. No one puts a gun to the alcoholic's head either and way, way more people are killed by alcohol than reefer -- both on the highways and the deathbed.

The results are whack, and born of a whack society out to ostracize and cordon off Mexicans and Blacks, who, doncha know, were using it to seduce white women back in the day.

The history channel has a good piece on marijahooga laws and their history. Showed a lot of clips I hadn't seen in a while -- bits of "Reefer Madness" and more. Unbelievable crap. This poor man smoked reefer and chopped up his family with an axe!!! (guy standing in police custody looking like Rasputin after a week long bender)

Not the point. Not at all.

When it comes to this subject, I don't care what one's stance on drug use and drug legalization is.... It is absurd by ANY standard to allow murderers and other violent criminals while barring marijuana users.

Yep. Non-violent "criminals" are filling our prisons. Legalize the stuff, and use the prisons for what they were designed for.

If you know the penalty, roll the dice and get thrown out for smoking it. Don't whine here. Graduate first, then light up. Set priorities!

It's like these people that get busted for pot in some foreign countries that have strict laws, like getting 40 years to life and then try and elicit our sympathy for them for their stupidity.

PRIORITIES are exactly what I'm talking about!

Man, how are you guys missing this point so badly?....

I understand the whole "you break the law, you pay the price" concept, and I agree with it.

My point is: The laws and rules pertaining to this subject are WRONG, backwards, counter-productive, unfair, and quite simply STUPID.

I think you're missing the point here Mike.

I'm constantly hearing my thirteen year old daughter tell me that EVERTHING that she doesn't agree with, is "unfair" or "wrong", but she's thirteen. We are teaching her that rules are rules, and that the law must be obeyed. Part of being a mature adult is being able to live and work within guidelines.

You sound like you're the type that has to learn everything the hard way.

There is a difference between laws that protect people and ensure fair commerce, and laws that get passed by special interests for their benefit. The latter are the unfair laws and need to be removed -- America has always been about freedom of choice, remember the "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" part of the Declaration of Independence? So when a certain activity like using recreation drugs gets restricted when it mostly affects only the user, that is an unjustified restriction of liberty.

No, I'm the kind of person that, when I KNOW something is wrong, I DO something about it. I make my voice heard. I work for change.

I don't sit and do nothing, while saying, "well that's just the way it is".

Yep. Strange how alot of the people who condemn pot usage defend their legal rights when it concerns alcohol consumption. Such hypocrisy I can't understand or justify.

If you think there's a simple answer and that's it. you're wrong again.....

IMO if a kid of 17 or even 18 gets caught with or in the presence of a joint, it is not a good reason to take away his/her possible only chance to attend college and make themselves a better life.....

What do you want a bunch of mormons & amish people running the world.

1 joint is a little excessive to lose that chance for. Any free person should have the right to persue higher education.

That's a pretty weak argument. It's a choice someone makes, and the choice has consequences.

A free person does have the right to persue higher education; but I am not willing to support it.
