E190 2.3-16V vs. E300 3.0-24V (m104)

Hey guys what are your thoughts between the 2. which one is quicker? Anyone know the power to weight ratio difference between the 2. Anyone know if the AMG exhaust system adds any more hp for 3.0m104 and how much. Also does anyone know the true tuned hp of the euro 3.0 m104? Lets discuss!

With factory gearing, they're probably pretty close. I will bet money with my 3.69 final drive I'll take a stock 16V, and with the 16V 5-speed and the 3.69 most definietely take the 16v. If you aren't going to mod the engines, then the 24V is around 225 Euro, say 230 or so with the exhaust maybe. The weight is around 3500 vs, like 2800-3000 on the 190 at 165hp?

As for my preference its the 24v everytime. But i'm tuning and adding and increasing so I'll always err towards the higher potential. 2.3 can probably only go up to maybe 2.5L or maybe a little higher, the 104 gets up to 3.8L.

I'd bet they're both around mid 16's or so through a quarter. After that the 16v is toast no question, the 104 tears it up through mid and highs. Damndest thing, stock or not, I have never raced against another similar year Mercedes, and never even seen a 16v that wasn't on a lot. I would probably bet on you're car though, only because the European model, US maybe 50/50. 60HP is big difference. The launch is the obvious weak point. And holding the brake and revving, at least on mine, makes it shift to second when I stop burning the wheels, so it doesn't help. Burning the wheels never happened with stock anyway.

Is the european finial drive the same as here? Those are usually so ridiculous luxury car tall. I couldn't stand it. I'll take 80MPH revs at 4500, I dont care.

Never got to drive the car in europe. This car I would say is a sport luxury. It has ARS for traction control which is neat. But yeah its slow off the line but if you get it to drop into first it pushes you back in the seat. This guy turned me down which was suprising seeing he was only a couple of minutes away from my house. Big loss for him. Did you get a chance to look at pictures of my car?

Yes, I saw the ones on eBay, it looks pretty sharp. Around here you could tell people its new off the lot and get a lot of believers...
Have you decided to keep it? If you do you might consider that twin turbo kit from england. Theyre almost giving them away.
