More likely used to mount/dismount tires. Useful in the era of tire tubes.

For tire machine, at Mercedes factory, or dealership probably. Just another shop tool. For starting the bead, onto the roller, when removing, or installing a tire, on a rim.

Those have holes in the center . This must be for manually separation.

Or for clubbing carjackers...

Like nick said. Theres 2 kinds of tire machine, the one where you put it in the center and lay screw on a cap, and the newer style where pneumatic teeth hold the rim in place from the inside, the new one is where this is used. I cant recall ever using the hooked end.

the germans think of everything.my 78 bmw r100s motorcycle had one of those in the tool kit along with patchs, and a little grater type tool to rough up the tubes, and a little tube of glue.then when you got done fixing your tube and got the tire mounted again.you reach up under the seat and there was a tire pump mounted on 2 little pins on the frame.kinda like the ones you used to see mounted on bicycle frames
