Benz Classic Center--Irvine, California

Today I had the opportunity to make a quick stop at the Benz Classic Center in Irvine, California.

I got there just before they closed (they were getting ready for a party) so I did not have a lot of time to take pictures.

Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

Perhaps we can arrange for a GTG at the Center. They are normally closed on Saturday, but perhaps they will open for us if we have a big enough group.

Here are some pics to whet your appettite.

Pre War Benz

Woody Benz

Wild Roadster

Black Roadster

Red Gullwing

Red 190

And a future classic, just right off the truck.

Beowulf

Too bad it's such a drive from the mid-west. Those look very cool. I'd love to sit in the driver's seat on any of those, but I wouldn't expect that they would allow it (except for the new one).

Matt: Some of the cars are for sale. There was a mint 1991 560SEL. Only $28k. And there was some big prewar car (I didn't get the model number) for sale for $750k.

I am sure that with your Platinum AMEX they will let you take one out for a spin.

And, yes, I am sure that the owner of the "new" one would let you sit in it and even take it for a spin.

don: For a moment I thought you meant something else (reefer?).

The red W124 coupe is stunning.

Apparently they love red cars at the Classic Center.

Yeah, careful what you say, Don. We don't want anybody getting indicted for anything here.

What!? No sea worthy pick up trucks, Ernesto? Maybe they were in the section you didn't get to before you had to leave.

Thanks for the pictures. I'd love to go, but that would be a helluva road trip from VA.

Nice teaser pictures Ernesto. I would love to visit that center, after Stuttgart, it is probably the best and biggest center like that of its kind anywhere in the world. Somehow fitting that Southern California, US capital of the culture, would get it.

Carajo! You have a beautiful coupe, amigo. Rare to see them in that color (signal rot) with original and correct lower panel paint. I wonder if it's interior inside is red, palomino white or black. I think your wheels are for the W140 series so the PO upgraded to a larger, but genuine Mercedes issue, rim, which looks very good on this car. Definately a real eye catcher, well bought.

You will really enjoy the euro lights on it, for sure.

I went there a few months ago and it was nice. They had a bunch of 600's on display.

That $750,000 car is pictured below. I can't imagine anyone needing a 5 foot tall convertible....unless you're headed to an um.....stadium rally.

Cool pictures Ernesto. I always wondered how durable the pre war cars would be if driven as a daily driver
