any reloaders on here?

i was just given everything needed to reload my own bullets. i was given 5 presses(i think one is for shotgun) with all the dies, all the powders, loaded shells for 45,7mm,30-06,357,38sp and several others along with about 2k empty 38 shells and several hundred 45. the only thing i lack is a good scale(the one i got doesnt work) and knowlege. i have done alot of reading on it this weekend and i made my first few practice bullets. i still have alot to learn before trying any of them out. anyone here reload?

Reloading is fun and, is the only way to be able to afford to shoot enough pistol to ever become any good with one.

And, when you are reloading for pistol, choose a powder with enough volume so that if you accidentally double charge, it would completely fill (or over fill) the cartridge.

Be careful, use eye protection when reloading too.

The reloads I was given ...well....It took me over an hour just to clean the barrel.

Speaking of pistols...

Thing One has a short-barreled Ruger Blackhawk that I like to call 'ol pain 'n sufferin' because it's such a miserable thing to shoot anything heavier than 240gr @ 1200fps. It's a terrible shot too...I can't hit a damned thing with it yet I'm a fair shot with my old '58 model Flattop .44.

He called Ruger and returned the thing the other day. It came back rebarrelled. We'll see....

have it magna-ported,i hated my super blackhawk .44 mag.i could not shoot a box of shells thru it and my palm was jello.sent it to a place in michigan and had it magna-ported and man what a difference.afterwards i could go thru 2 boxs before my hand started pounding.then i cured that problem and got an s&w model 29 hunter special with the full lug and unfluted cylinder.i can shoot it all day and not bother me at all.

Thing One can pay to have it ported. I'll shoot my flattop.

What is it about those Smith's? An old friend has a retired cop gun (.357 Mod 29) that's stamped "SCPD" on the frame. That old dog has got to be the best shooter I've ever squeezed...we used to go the the range and routinely hit 5 out of 6 into a frying-pan sized ringer at 100 yds.

Stock cocobolo or something...plowhandle grip frames don't exactly lend themselves to much other than wood. IMHO, it's the short barrel that makes it so wicked with heavy loads. I've shot hunting (pig) loads through the flattop and it's long barrel keeps it manageable.

Sorry, my mistake. It's a 686.
