Spending bucks?

I've read good and bad on this board relative to the 2002 S55.I tried to do as much due diligence as possible relative to this car.The car fax is clean and the VMI shows no inherent defects. Is'nt there a chance that this vehicle will continue to perform well enough so that I can have confidence that it's not going to break down on a regular basis?
Everything considered this is a car that is enough for me.I 'm not looking to get more power like the 2003 and above.
It seems that when there is a discussion about this model it's either hot or cold. Some posters have said on this and other boards that it was a good car for them and others have said it's not worth the effort.

I doubt it'll break down. You might have some susp or electrical/gizmo issues down the road. OTOH, maybe it'll be perfect for the next 40k miles - not unheard of.
