How do you younger, single guys, feel about driving a "Non-sporty", four door ?

I myself, prefer two door coupes, in any vehicle, unless it's a station-wagon, or a big dually diesel, 4x4, pick-up truck. Literally, all except for my dually pick-up, and my wagon, are two doors, but this is just my preference..

Don't you guys ever kinda feel like "Grandpa" when you drive your four door around without a family, or kids to tote around ? Call me curious...

I see a lot of four door cars out there like Neons, Beamers, Tauruses, Accords, etc with big spoilers, lowered, and funky exhausts..Every time I see that I think "What a waste, this guy should have done all of that to a sporty car"

I don't see why Subaru, or Dodge, don't offer the WRX, or the Charger, in a two door...I mean well...Isn't that the whole point of a sporty car to begin with..?

Someone called my car a "Grandpa Car" I had to retort back with

"That is a grandpa car (pointed to a crown vic), while you drive that piece of "look at me I have a small penis and need to compensate for something because I am balding at the age of 23 and its not because of genes but because of my own stupidity" loser.

Well, the Crown Vic, is another of the few exceptions I'd make, due to the sporty-ness of the police cars, and Marauder. They are both cool cars also..

I'm talking about the poser cars, like a four door Civic, that's three inches from the ground, has stock steel rims on it, and a loud exhaust, and big A.R.E. stickers on it. When they don't even have American Racing Rims, on their car...

Or the 20 year olds, in four doors, that just look like they're driving their grandpas car to work that day.

I have no use for four doors myself, most of the time though.

Coupes have longer, heavier doors that are a PIA in tight parking spaces. Its nice to have a door behind the drivers door to hang up a suit, or get stuff in and out quickly when its raining. The only 2-door I would buy would be a convertible.

PS - but then again, I'm not 20.

coupes just dont make sense.

if it's a pure sports car, made for speed; thats one thing.

-PITA for rear-seat passengers to get in
-Less space in the back
-Longer, heavier doors
-More for insurance

I could care less what my car happens to look like; it serves it's purpose, and does it well at that.

Not really. I get my tires squeeling madly everytime i drive my 300D. In fact I'd like a Miata or something small and go cartish made for that type of thing so my 300D won't have to take it.

I drive Mercedes-Benz.

The best balance of all desirable performance in any shape or form money can buy. They have relatively inexpensive parts, wide availability for those parts, they are designed for sustained high speed cruising, they are some of the longest lasting cars on the road, they are simple to work on..They are the safest cars on the road.

They are sleek, powerful and beautiful Teutonic machines of precision. As long as you know how to turn a wrench, you'll likely never want to end the relationship.

I like my 123 coupes, and 126 coupes etc. a lot more than their four door counterparts for a number of reasons. I just couldn't put myself in a four door version of either one of them, even if they are mechanically identical. It isn't about acceleration, and performance, so much, but more of a bachelor type thing..Kinda like not wearing a wedding ring, and then once you wear one, you get a four door...I guess that's more along the lines of my outlook on the subject.

I won't drive any sedan. I drive alone, about 100 miles a day, along a winding country road, and only have even 1 passenger at the most on weekends. Sedans would be silly for me, combine the back seat full of stuff instead of people, fold the seats down and add the trunk, I have more storage than most people's sedans in my TT. I usually keep the back seats out of the 300CE, and the Lancia only has 2 seats. The TVR I have in mind same thing. For me the sports car is the only practical choice: light, agile, proper use of fuel and conservatively built. Aside from all of that "defense" of my decision to drive sports cars almost exclusively, I don't believe in a "sport sedan". Its a sports car or it isn't. The EVO, STI, they're economy cars with turbos. The Audis, while pretty cool sometimes, pretty much the same thing. Lop 2 doors and 9 inches at least from the wheelbase, and about 400lbs, you have a nice sports car. As is? Something zippy for the Mrs. I don't agree with this "combines practicality with..." BS. Then they don't do anything really well. They do two things pretty good, -IF- you pay for it. But more likely, just have a clunky car that accelerates better than the base model.

Again, you back me up, Thanks buddy, these are my sentiments exactly. Nothing to do with penis size though..

No way. One of the funnest (most fun?) cars I've driven was my wife's 1997 Subaru Impreza with a Prodrive suspension kit. Beautifully balanced car, although it did tend to plow when you really pushed it. It was really a blast on dirt roads. Great, great car.

I haven't driven an EVO, but I hear they are a blast to drive.

Its all good.

I never got the penis size issue? Do guys really look down and say '*****, I need a sports car'? Chicks around here dig on lifted trucks anyway. Nice pretty ones with no dirt or scratches and guys who shave their arms and wear axe body spray, despite not showering or shaving for days on end. Nobody wants to be cool anymore.

Speaking as the youngish (31) owner of a slow sedan (300SD) fast sedan (Quattro) and real sports car (240Z)- I just find cars without a door for each row of seats to be a weird compromise. Yes, a gang of four can ride up just as easily in a 560SEC as in a 560SEL, but the "clambering" out of the back seat just seems undignified. I think the SWB W126 is the best styling job of the three available, and Audi made the turbo quattro as a sedan (used price $1500) or a smaller coupe ($10,000 for a nice one, no more performance than the sedan)...

Yes, the coupe is more desirable. More desirable than a TQ sedan, a W126, and a 240Z for less money than a coupe? not for me. I'll take the Z when I'm feeling coupe-ish.
