I once recall prying the car keys of a then-new 1980 Cadillac deVille diesel from a girl that I knew and beating the whee out of it one Friday night. That car was loud and utterly gutless.

The article states that Mercedes is about to stop selling the E320 here. Unfortunate I think. I would think they'd want to promote it and ad a C-Class diesel. I dont think the diesel SUV's will succeed somehow.

I drove a few Chev station wagon cabs with that engine in the mid 80s and they weren't completely gutless. But then, I didn't have to work on the damn things when they self-destructed.
