Ex owner, awesome cruiser, its actually a mad max on wheels, the only thing that goes bad is the second gear, if its stubby, have it checked, otherwise excellent engine, shaft drive means no maintenance, I would replace the rear rubbers with Metzlers.

I know the owner...second pops out if you really load it.$ 800.00 fix at a shop or $49.00 for parts if you do it yourself.

It has ported heads and different cams....a few thousand spent on drive train plus a brand new rear drive from a high geared bike. Pulls 2800 rpm at 70. IIRC.

Metzlers are great..used them in UK but everyone says change to 17" and run radial tyres.

If you have done gear boxes before, you can easily do it on the V Max, its quite simple actually. I would stick to Metzlers, radials are for crotch rockets, where you have to lean, Metzlers have awesome grip, warm up quicky and are excellent in rain and water dispersion, something most racing oriented radials don't do. Ported head and cams means even more madness, it would be like a wild horse for sure.

He wants $2100.00 for it....I think he said it's a '90 something ?

It really flys....he said it was nearly as quick has his '99 Harley street/drag bike.

Have you checked the blue book value, sounds a bit higher IMHO even for a modded bike. Comparing V Max to Harley is a joke, at any given day a V Max would murder Harleys, even if they are modded, only with nitrous can a Harley pass a V Max. How many miles on the V Max, how is the compression on the engine, any race exhaust etc.

Gerald, my friend, is one guy in the bike word I trust. He builds choppers...or rather, helps build them and does most of the testing and electronics.

Yes...his Harley has Nitros two stage from NOS with electronics installed by himself.

He has told me the bike is valued at $5500.00 if 2nd was good.
He's selling both his bikes.
He rides the V Max often....he wants a 2007 Harley so bad, he said, he can taste it.

I guess a Harley V-Rod doesn't count?

Harley had a similar motor to the V Max designed way before the V Max came out in 1985, due to AMF not wanting to fund the introduction, only one or two models exist. Harley was there first, Yamaha just copied the design.
