I'm sure those stuck in the glorious 1980's will find something. Everytime a new series comes out, it's "Ehhh..... They don't make them like they used to!" Well, time moves on.

I'm glad they don't make them like they used to! Crank starting an engine by hand would suck! More so in the winter!

Yes, taking it to it's logical conclusion.

When they work, the newer models are superior in overall performance. When they break, costs will break the bank.

Ehhh...They don't make 'em like they used too.
Good for the new car buyer, bad for the used car buyer.

New cars are nice because you don't have to work on them.

I am happy with my 1989 300CE. No big problems and an 18 year old car with no rust and still shiny smooth paint is comparable to a 80-year-old lady with no wrinkles .
I guess we are the lucky guys having little problems with our older Benzes.
But as the poor people reported, most of them have 1998-2006 models.

The whole reason I bought a Lexus this time around. But then we've already discussed that decision to death in my post about "going over to the dark side" a few weeks ago.

I have a 1998 E320....125k miles bulletproof!

I have (my daughter drives) a 2002 C320 wagon...65k miles...bulletproof!

Nothing but great, courteous service/treatment from the dealer.

I treat the dealer/service reps with respect and courtesy. They return the favor by treating me with respect and courtesy.

I have no complaints. Maybe it is my good karma.

This is the # 1 thing we consumers need to learn. Even if a service rep/dealer gives you a hard time, you will be surprised just how much your respectful and kind attitute will go to change their minds and hearts.
They are human beings also and are probably also very sick of demanding and rude customers. It is within the service adviser's supervisor's hands to do get pretty much anything done on your behalf.
Same goes with police officers. I am, for the most part, an easy going driver but I often have my moments and my foot often becomes a led foot. I have been stopped many times but have never gotten a ticket. (knock on wood) This I feel is in part because of my ability to immediately turn on my charms with the officers. They are also human beings and if you haven't fcuked up pretty bad, they will more likely let you go. This is pretty amazing as police in NC is considered to be the worst as far as writing tickets and setting up speed traps to catch over speeders. "You can catch more flies with honey than horse *****"
Recently I got out of a ticket and fine by being extremely nice to both the police officer and the DA while cracking up the whole court-room with my subtle jokes and this concerned a fender bender with a police cruiser in which I was at fault. NO insurance payout, no tickets, everything was dismissed!

I remember you. Weren't you under a different user name? W126, wasn't it?

You had a dark blue 560SEL, if I remember correctly. There was a time I used to post in OD quite a bit more often than I do now
....Before politics soured the board and I became a DD lurker.

Yep. I joined MBshop in Jan 2001.

My wife hit a deer, some light front end damage that was repaired. However, the trans cooling lines became clogged and after about a year it burned up. Mechanic bought it and we moved on. 560SEL->E55->S600
